Yet another bricked/nuked bb - 9860...
So, i bought the 9860 off ebay about 10 months ago. Been fine since apart from 2 occassions where i needed to do a batt pull to get it to life. (both happened when i left it on charge overnight).
Now the same thing happened again, dead in the middle of the night while on charge. I had not done anything to the phone before hand ie.. no new apps, nothing.
Tried so far:
-Battery pull - no success
-Holding down the back key to get into safe mode - no success
-Loading bb software and try updating the device - no success
-Running apploader and forcing a update this way - no success
-Downloading OS7.1 - no success
-Running JL_cmder to wipe the handset - no success
-Left on charge for hours on end with and without the battery present
-A new battery
-Removing the mem card and sim card and retrying all the above
-pressed 'RETRY' over 300 times when i get the error 'application loader was unable to connect to your device...ect'
Basically ive spent 2 days trying to get around this issue.
What i am getting is a constant rebooting device (ie... red light comes on and off every 10 seconds or so) while connected to a power source.Nothing on the screen unless i plug it in the mains with the battery out then i get the battery icon crossed out. When trying for a update in desktop manager IT DOES recognise its a 9860 and IT DOES ask for my password. It displays my PIN too.
Is there anything else i can do????
My last BB died on me to, really had enough of these now. Think its gonna be android time sooner than i think.Last edited by J4GG4; 04-08-2012 at 08:21 PM.

Run apploader WITHOUT the battery in. Use the 7.1.0.342 OS. It will detect via ARM, not JVM. It will flash everything including your RAM image. After it says waiting for device initiation, put in your battery, and let it boot. In under 10 minutes, it should boot into when you first got it.

Hi there,
I have 7.1.342 and when i click it, it opens bb desktop manager and tries to update through that. I have tried without the battery in and it stills tries to do the JVM bit.
Ive also tried via apploader directly AND apploader without JVM via command prompt. Everything it sticks on JVM...... - 04-09-2012, 07:48 PM

I have something wierd happening...
Twice now ive managed to get the BB to display a battery symbol with the lightning strike through it. It lasts on the screen for a few minutes then it looks as though the screen fiently lights up then it goes dead again and does the red light thing on and off.
I also found BBSAK and JL_cmder does not communicate with the phone BUT the phone communicates within desktop manager and apploader.
Its given the 9860 a glimmer of hope but im again stuck at square one and i do not know what to do now. - 04-10-2012, 09:32 AM

it works to me!!
Hi There,
I also facing the same situation with you for almost 1 month. But it's over now maybe you could try the same way that I did :
visit NUKE, WIPE, NAL and OS all in one script - GSM-Forum for the details.
I choose number 7 and it stucks when uploading NAL (I guess because I don't put the right file
) but at least my 9860 is having new state where the led is blinking.
so I just run the loader process, and now I can play with my 9860.
cheers
