I bought my cousin's 9850 as he finally made the leap to Droid world a year ago. $40 not a bad deal i thought, He gave me the box and all, just one problem, his 6 year old lost the battery. I thought no big deal order one off amazon or ebay. Now I read about this Decoder BS and how i need the old battery???? So am i stuck with $40 worth of chargers and plastic?

I don't get it, switched to droid a year ago, then bought a new blackberry 6 months ago? Anyway, all you need is a jm-1 replacement battery like the oem one linked above, I'd stay away from those cheap ebay chinese knock offs though

Exactly. Buy oem and no need to condition the battery. Go to the carrier or buy one online from a repituable source like the crackberry.com's webstore.
