Default Verizon 9850-None In Stock At Verizon Stores?

Looking for 9850 replacement and Verizon Corporate stores do not have any in stock. Verizon searched and with in NYC area 500 miles none in stock. Called 20 stores within 75 miles of me none in stores. Heard different stories.
Why wouldn't there be any anywhere, does not make sense!
Anyone know what is going on?

They stopped in store stocking of the 9850 a few months ago. You can order them from Verizon though.

    Lack of sales.
    BB market share loss.
BB reputation the last 2-3 years

Also remember RIM strong armed the carriers to sell the
OS7 phones. I remember it well from last summer.

When your products are not selling, market share is dropping like a rock and strong arm the folk who sell your products you tend to get bit in the a$$.

Sprint EOL'd the device in February. But - why in G-d's sake wuld you buy at carrier? The device is $150 new off contract on e-bay. Used in great condition for under $100. Even if Verizon gives it to you for free - you are locked in for 2 years on contract and charged an early termination fee to leave. That fee is based on a $500 device!!!! Please think about this before pulling the trigger.

Verizon really, really wants to sell only 4G LTE devices. Which for now for smartphones means Android. It's only because of market demand that they also sell (3G) iPhones.

Yea, they push android like crazy and when people looked for Blackberry they say things like "no one uses it anymore" or "you don't want to buy it"...

While diagnosing no signal issues, Sprint rep offered up that after 2015 only LTE devices will function. Good thing I just sold the last of my Nextel BB phones...

Sprint moved their Direct Connect product to CDMA. iDEN will be decommissioned on Sprint some time in 2013.

They are only going to stock what sells and if the product was not selling they get rid of it just like any other retailer.

I was in my local VZ store yesterday looking to replace a broken hard shell case. The case for the 9850 model I had was nowhere to be found on any of the accessory display areas but every other non BB model had them. When asked by the perfect makeup Stepford wife looking barbie brunette sales associate if she could help, I stated my request to which she she said "do you mean the 9900" once I repeated my request and then showed her the phone she said "oh, I have that in the back". So, not only do they not have BB phones displayed they are a bit weak on the model knowledge. I'm not a demanding person on most things but have always had support issues with this particular location and their customer service. Where is BB in the VZ current main store line up or kiosk locations??????

It could be worse, you could be a customer of Alltel who only offers 2 Blackberry models. I however do love my 9850 from them. They do offer unlimited talk, text, and web!
Southern Illinois does not start at the southern edge of Cook County! (Chicago) It is about 250 miles South of there!! I really wish Illinois politicians knew this!!!

I think they have told that to all phone vendors, at least with respect to smartphones. Presumably, the iPhone 5 will have LTE, so VZW will not be in the awkward position of Apple telling VZW where they can put their requirement.
