Torch 9860 or Bold 9790
Which one should I go for? Which delivers better performance?
I can live both with and without the physical keys, so please give an unbiased reply on which to choose.

Personally I like (along with pretty much every other poster in this forum) the 9860.
The 9860/50 is a decent alternative to the iPhone, or a Droid... PLUS, you have BB security.
I'm not a fan of the 'classic' bb with keyboard...I'm still here, happily rocking my leaked 7.1 Scorch (ahem Torch 9860, a.k.a. Storm 3)

if you want a qwerty phone then go for the Bold 9790, but personally for me I'll go for the torch 9860. because in terms of specs the Torch 9860 wins. but the only downside for some people is the lack of a keyboard. but if you can get used to typing in a virtual keyboard. then you will not go wrong with the torch

Better make a chose quick as the 9860/50 is being discontinued in most carriers.

I don't txt much and wanted a larger screen. 9850 for that.
Performance-wise, they both have roughly the same internal guts:

I just went through this decision. Side by side they are both good phones. I went with the 9860 for price. I do love the key board but know one says if I don't like I can't sell it and get a Bold. Pick one and go with it.

Well, I bought the Bold 9790 ultimately! and I love it, just LOVE it

Just like you were to ask in the 9900, they would say go with the Bold. I have my 9850 and I love it. I figure most BlackBerry 10 devices could be touch so I better start getting used to a touchscreen device.

is the 9860 a 3g like the 9790 or is 4g i am looking to go to the 9860 i got the 9790 right now its a good phone but i had a h+ 9900 and went to the 9790 i miss the h+

Yes the 9860 is an H+ phone.
I personally don't know why anyone would bother buying a 9790 at this point, unless you just love that form factor for some reason. Why get a 9790 when you can get a 9900/9930? It's a better phone with better specs and a better keyboard. If you don't want the keyboard, get a 9860/50. I personally don't see the relevance of the 9790. - 04-30-2012, 03:05 PM #11
i had the the 9790 from my best friend because he likes my white 9900 so i traded him my phone for his 9790 he gave me a case and a pouch but i didnt know it was a 3g till i used it

i am also torn on this... i am coming from windows phone. and i just really like blackberry. i am either going to get the torch 9860 or the bold 9930. i am used to using a full touch screen, so not having a qwerty keyboard doesnt bother me... for some reason i like the looks and feel of the bold a lot. although i havent physically held a new torch. i used to have a storm, but it was awful. i am also going to be buying one on ebay because i am in contract. for whatever reason the torch sells for a little less. is it a common opinion to go with the torch over the bold around here?
former storm user, may be back! - 05-27-2012, 09:15 PM #13
this forum yes because it is the torch 9850/9860 forum. carrier wise, bolds 9900/9930 and 9790 and the torch 9810 are the hot sellers.

Torch. If getting a physical qwerty BB you'd want a Bold 99xx anyway.

patience, my friend... all it needed was a bit of patience... initially i also found it frustrating to type on the 9860. but after getting used to the keyboard, now i'm typing with no problems at all...
