Default 9760 Battery life is 4.5hrs Max for me

I am completely disappointed with this attempt at a smartphone. I have nothing running and kept it in my pocket all day and it is completely dead by 3pm. This POS has left me stranded several times. I have tried 3 different OS7 versions and now on 7.1.0.250 leaked OS hoping something is fixed. NOT. I really wanted this one to be good but it was a complete waste of money. The end is near friends. I see now why the 2 BB Exec's got drunk on the plane, forced it to return to Canada, were fired and then kicked out of the country. They see the end also.

You must have a bad phone or a crap signal. If mine is just in my pocket or sitting on the shelf it will last for days.

Battery life for me on my 9850 was decent - UNTIL I loaded 7.1 from Verizon. Now it stinks.

Battery life is such a relative subject, you really can't discuss it in a high level with any hope of getting definitive answers. There are alot of contributing factors, so each person's view on battery life has to be really analysed. For instance, my wife has a 9860 as do I. On a full charge she will get 2 days average, and I mean 48hrs. I will get about 16 hrs average on the same full charge, sometimes less sometimes more. The 9680 battery has never drained completely before the end of my day so far, my 9800 was guilty of that a few times though.

What I can tell you is that the 4 main factors that affect battery drain are 1- your typical style of usage, 2- installed apps, 3- Os and 4- network signal strength.

Guys, what about Torch 9800? How is its battery life?

TT, I'm judging batt life on the 9900 vs the 9700 under same usage and same apps (actually way less on 9900).

If your battery is'nt lasting the entire day from 7:00 am to midnight with moderate use, there is an app that is causing the problem - not the OS. When I upgraded both of our phones to 7.1 my battery life improved significantly on both phones - 24 hours and they will be still at 10-15% unless I've been using it like crazy. And I don't turn of Bluetooth or wi-fi either. There are other posts that address this more fully, but the biggest user is the Social Feeds app that comes standard on the phone. Unless you can't live without this, delete it immediately. Set Facebook to NOT automatically feed, it will update immediately when you open the app. Turn the brightness on your screen to 10% (sounds too low, but it isn't). If you use Google Maps, you must exit the app via the menu, not by just pressing the Back button. Always lock your phone when you are done to immediately turn off your screen and so it doesn't keep turning back on in your pocket.

I also recommend the full wipe and re-install of the OS when you are are upgrading. the OTA upgrade I did when 7.1 first came out did not net me this battery life improvement.

Not for me, Rickkel.
I did wipe and install, I did remove Social Feeds, I have disabled all background updating of facebook, weather apps, everything. I don't have Google Maps. Battery life took a dive after 7.1 - and nothing has changed in the way I use my phone.
