Shortcuts on Touch Screens?
Hi All,
I love using keyboard shortcuts on my 9650, but I've never used a BB touch screen device so I'm wondering if on those models (Torch, initial BB10, etc) there's any way to have/use shortcuts . . . or if the shortcuts are unnecessary since you have your most used/favorite icons right on your home screen. Sorry if it's a stupid question, but in realizing how much I use key shortcuts to things like Notepad, Contacts, Vibrate ring mode, Messages, Tasks, Calculator, etc (I actually have the icons for these favorite apps buried in a folder and only access them via 1-touch key shortcuts), I started wondering how it works on touch screens and if it's something I'll miss on BB10 (if I can't wait for a BB10 keyboard version, that is).
Thx ahead for any info. - 11-15-2012, 08:13 PM

I was thinking more along the lines of the kinds of shortcuts being discussed in this previous CB blog post:

7. Keyboard Shortcuts?
This one is a bit of a question mark. On the legacy BlackBerry OS, there are TONS of keyboard shortcuts, but we have yet to see them transition over to the QNX-based OS. Will they come? We're not sure. With full touchscreen devices, there isn't much point to having them, even though you can slide up the keyboard from basically anywhere on the OS (it's just quicker to tap into whatever you want to do).
When you have a physical keyboard, however, it's really nice to be able to use keyboard shortcuts. Being able to map contacts to keyboard buttons and dial them up just by pressing is awesome. And tons of power users love to launch apps from the keyboard on the current OS. Beyond that on the current BBOS, there are lots of other keyboard commands that pull up different screens and functions. Not a lot of average users take advantage of those ones, but power users love them. -

Use quicklaunch, advanced os and led. This should help your issue.

Thanks, all. I hadn't realized QL was available for touch screen devices; I thought it only worked with physical keyboards, so hopefully it'll be available for BB10.
