Shortcomings
I tried out my friend's Blackberry Torch 9850 so he could try out my iPhone. This phone was difficult to type on. I got to the point where I didn't even want to use it mainly due to the keyboard. I don't understand why Verizon's Torch doesn't have a keyboard like the others do. It wouldn't have been so bad with a physical keyboard like I had with my Bold, but the onscreen one was terrible.
Is there a way to set more than one alarm? The iPhone allows multiple alarms to be set which I always set two everyday. I liked my Curve 8330 and Bold 9650 at the time, but between the keyboard on this phone and the lack of useful apps, I was eager to get my iPhone back. - 04-19-2012, 07:16 PM #2
Secondary alarms can be set using the calendar, or there are apps. And funny you'd not care for the Torchs' keyboard, I liked it and didn't like the iPhone's. The original slider Torches were only GSM, the CDMA models just had to be different.

The bb7 touch screen keyboard on my 9810 is awesome, works perfectly. I have no idea what people are talking about when they complain about that keyboard, which is perfectly functional - i have used the 9860 keyboard too, no problem at all, works great. i have used all the different brands that use touch keyboards, blackberry's is better. I will even defend the storm 2 touch keyboard, was great! LoL
In fact i really want to buy a 9860. Awesome bb. Use the 9810 for backup phone.-------------------------------------

The iphone is not a good phone at all. If i hear my boss complain about his iphone dropping more calls and losing it's reception - i might actually destroy it and just give him my 9810, save him more grief. Drops more calls than, i dunno... Couldn't really come up with something, good night.

I think the problem is that people just aren't used to the on screen keyboard when they switch off from using another phone. It's different with each phone and takes some getting used to.
It's like using a Ps3 controller for the past 5 years and then picking up an Xbox, you can't just expect that the controller is going to feel perfect instantly. - 04-22-2012, 08:14 PM #8
I went from a BB Curve 8530 to the BB Torch 9850. It is hard to go from a physical keyboard to a touch screen keyboard! If Alltel had offered the Bold 9930 I would have went with it. I love my Blackberrys! I am getting a lot better with the touch keyboard. My daughter who has an Android phone with a touch keyboard likes mine better!
Southern Illinois does not start at the southern edge of Cook County! (Chicago) It is about 250 miles South of there!! I really wish Illinois politicians knew this!!! - 04-23-2012, 02:25 PM #9
I can see where the OP is coming from. Though he really should try the phone out a little while longer. The keyboard considering all the real estate on that screen really could have been done better.
I just wish that there was a developer that could create an alternative onscreen keyboard for this phone. Or that BB could do it themselves.
As for the alarm, check app world, or as the poster above me recommended, you can add alerts to the calendar.8700, Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Torch 9860, Z10! No case FTW!!! - 04-24-2012, 12:04 AM #10

I find the 9850 and the iPhone to be rather small. It is difficult to type on either device in portrait mode. 4 - 4 1/2" devices are easier to type on in portrait mode.
