Humm, I haven't had any problem with gmail. Wouldn't know about your school email. How are you setting it up?

I was trying to do it as a gmail account which worked on other OS's but it didn't on here so I tried as "other" but it just keeps telling me its an invalid username/password. I tried to change the IMAP settings in my email to no avail..

Maybe you should start a new thread about it. I'm not real familiar with all the different email settings.

Just got my 9860, did an update, to .585, so far, its pretty damn good! Only thing is getting accustomed to the touchscreen as my last BB was a 9700.
For the record that was the best phone I have ever owned! We will have to see how well this one does |

Got my 9860 about 2-3 weeks ago. My first BB device, my first > 1 GHz CPU. I'm still using Nokia 5800 which it's not to be compared with the Monza.
First impression: confused. I have no idea how to use a BB device. Still learning till now. Upgrade the version by myself (browse and watch some youtube videos), and still.....dissappointed with the battery life. But what do you ecpect from 1230 mAh running a 3,7" touchscren device. Charging twice a day is a good answer.
Still, it's my phone, and I like it. |

Did it! Paid full retail to replace my Storm 2 with a Torch 9850. Loving it. The display is fast and fun. Whole phone is much faster and productive to use.
The Verizon premium dealer store on Canal Street in New York didn't have any BBs on display, unlike the last time I visited there a year ago. The entire showroom was filled with Droids and IPhones. I felt like an outcast asking for a BB. The employee had to unlock a cabinet and reach under the counter to bring out my Torch -- I felt like I was purchasing some contraband product.
I asked why there were no BBs on display - "Is everyone buying Droids now?" The employee said that people wanted the features those phones had. We started chatting about phones and he pulled out his own phone -- it turned out to be a BB! "I wouldn't be without my Blackberry" he said. Another customer commented that he owned an IPhone, but that BBs were better for handling email.
Edit: Forgot to add: One reason I went with BB instead of a Droid is the dependable Blackberry Desktop Manager sync with Outlook. I sync contacts, calendar, tasks, even notes. My research on message boards uncovered the fact that some Droid users have sync troubles using third party apps.

Have had my 9850 for a couple days now. I've never used a touch-screen before, and was stuck on OS 5 with my Curve. I'm liking it pretty well so far. Once I get used to the touch-screen, and OS 7, I'll be set!

I have had my 9850 for a week now, and I am so happy with it! I ordered my 9930 the day it was available on line, and I love it too, but sometimes I want a keyboard and sometimes not so much. My 9850 is the phone I should have bought instead of the DroidX2. I thought I would like the 4.3" screen, and I do, but not for my daily use. I keep it on my bedside table as an alarm clock. I was really surprised at how easy it is to type on the 9850, and the battery is really much better than I expected. This is turning out to be my favorite phone of all time..............so far!

Great. I am surprised that they don't seem to sell well but oh well. Now where is the next update?

Hi all, I've been using my 9860 for about 4 months now, it's like 'love at a first sight' to me it's the fulltouch BB device I've hoping for, I'm not a fullkeyboard fans but yet I'm a avid BB user,my device before this is 9700, this 9860 brings a whole new experience using BB device because of the screen resolution and the fulltouch ui, just hoping more better apps and games that using full resources of this baby, and of course the full compatibility for the next BB10 OS

Came back to BB yesterday after a year and a 1/2 with a Droid2. i picked up a 9850 @ verizon and have barely put it down since. Overall, I'm very pleased and am now able to fully take advantage of the capabilities of my 32gb PB. My biggest complaint though is with the way contacts are handled. For one, none of the pics transferred over (the verizon guy moved them somehow) and i dont see a way to use the pics already associated with a contacts FB profile, for example. Also, it would be nice if there was a favorites tab in the call application. i did purchase contact cleaner and thst helped to merge some dupes, but it missed alot. i look forward to our time together!

Hi All, I am very Disappointed and regret getting a Blackberry 9860, Since I've had it all it does it laggs and thinks for 2-5mins I can't do anything at all. It's so annoying. At the start was only for bout 1min now it's close 2-5mins. I still have a lot of memory. I really want to know why it keeps on doing that? It's that little square thing and shows a bar it's thinking. Does anyone know why it would be doing this and how I can stop it? I can't even update it because the phone is lagging. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
