Default no visual voicemail icon with t-mobile.

Hey guys, I purchased an unlocked torch 9860 for my fiancee and everything seems to be working fine except for the visual voice mail icon. I can't find it anywhere on the phone and every time she checks her voice mail by calling it she receives an odd text that appears to refer to the visual voice mail. Does anyone have any idea how I can get the visual voice mail to work?

there was an issue back in the day with getting a rogers branded 9780 working with at&t's VVM. unfortunately, there was no way to get it to work. this is because the network can recognize the phone via IMEI as not being at&t branded and wont let it gain access to VVM. we tried everything we could to get it working. since your phone isnt a t-mo branded device, you may be out of luck and will have to check voicemail the old fashioned way.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking something along those lines was happening.

we were able to get VVM to load on the phone, by modifying the alx file and adding at&t's vendor ID to the list. it allowed the actual app to load and then we set it up. i had to call at&t and tell them it was a 9800 (which was VVM enabled on at&t) so the account was provisioned properly. upon testing, the first VVM would come through properly and notification was made. but if you called yourself and left a subsequent message, it was never delivered and VVM "broke" after that. we all gave up on it after awhile. someone made a VVM OTA download back in the day which allowed you do manually load the VVM app. or you can go into the vvm alx file in the OS and edit yourself with t-mobiles vendor ID to get it to load. but then again, if its blocked by t-mobiles service books, or there isnt one for it, the app still may not show on the screen even if its installed on the device.

bottom line is unless the phone is a t-mobile branded phone, VVM most likely wont work.

here are some of the threads for reference....
