Need some tips
Hello! I just bought a blackberry torch 9860 , and it is really nice and faster than 9800 and 9780!
BUT
I saw some articles about OS7 devices being nuked right after re-charging , Is it true ? and how can i prevent it ? It really sucks to buy a new device and get it nuked the other day >.< Anyway im pissed off now because i removed the charger from my bb and its battery is drained xD waiting for your tips!
EDIT: Also , i want to ask...Is it worth upgrading to 7.1? I attempted to install it by downloading the telenor 7.1 build .342 , But when i do it doesn't detect the OS , i tried deleting 2 vendor.xml files , one in the apploader folder and the other in "roaming" folder , after many unsuccessful tries , i finally ended up with "There is no desktop swoftware for you device system software" well i dont remember , But is there any official (should be official , i hate leaks) OS for 9860 ? That actually works ... ?? and please , a guide to install it ... i know how to install it on OS6 but its different and eh , problematic...
Thanks in advance.Last edited by -Khalid-; 06-20-2012 at 12:55 AM.

My two OS 7 devices have never been nuked, after charging or otherwise.......haven't noticed that problem in the wider forums either....
DOwnload the latest 7.1 OS from this site, check for vendor specific xml files and then install thru BB desktop.
Really simple stuff..... - 06-20-2012, 04:54 AM

Thanks for the replies , i think i already got a blackberry ID , if im right , its the account for using the appworld .. I checked for updates through desktop manager , says theres no updates then i clicked on "View other versions" gave me "You are not a blackberry subscriber" , So i plugged it to my mac and downloaded desktop manager and says there's an update , it took me to the process where it says something about if it got dsconnected the device will be inoperable then backing up and i got frightened xD So i closed it :3 Mac's may be problematic in updating thats why :/
Any ideas :P ? - 06-22-2012, 05:26 AM #7
@-Khalid-
The desktop manager in windows will not update your OS to 7.1.xxx if you do not have BIS Plan.
Also in OS 7.1.xxx, without BIS data plan-
1. You can not authenticate your BB ID.
2. Nor can you login the AppWorld to download apps
