Mechanical or Touch Menu Keys?!
SO, what's it going to have? take a look at these two videos.
First we saw the Tutorial Video on crackberry
In the video you clearly can see seperate buttons for call/menu/escape/hangup.
Then we saw hands on videos....

In this video, there are no mechanical looking buttons, but instead looks like its part of the screen.
Now i realize that there could be mechanical buttons underneath a flexible cover that extends below the screen (curve 8520) but i'm looking at this from an asthetic point of view..
So which is it?

I believe it will be how we're seeing it in the recent leaked videos. IMO, it's very similar to what we're used to on your average Curve. It's flush with the screen but has a mechanical button under the surface. It will be similar to the Storm 9530 but look like the 9550. It could POSSIBLY be just a touch response but part of me doubts that.
The protruding button design seems to be only used for the leaked documents and the tutorial videos. I don't know if that was the original design or is done to show the function, but it will not look like that. That was uglier too so I'm glad.
Also, if you looked at some of the leaked roadmap documents, the images did not line up.

This image shows keys that are colored like the current Blackberrys which we know will not be on the final products. They are going for all white now instead of the green and red call/end buttons.

This one is closer to the final product IMO, but the protruding buttons are incorrect. It's the same design we see in the tutorial videos we're discussing.

This is what it will look like.
I hope I cleared this up.Last edited by UrbanGlowCam; 04-14-2011 at 07:58 PM.

I hope they are capacitive, like on the Android phones.

it actually doesnt look bad with the hardware buttons. its starting to grow on me. at first i wanted it to have the capacitive buttons, but when i think of our cold winters and trying to answer the phone with gloves on, the hardware buttons make more sense. just get the thing released already!

Whats with the model number change? I hope this thing has HSAP+ radios for North America. If its CDMA only then I'm gonna be upset.

It has a touch pad for G-d's sake. You can answer the phone with that button. Mechanical buttons make the phone look cheap. With the clorly icons, this thing is starting to look like a Samsung device. I will likely buy it anyway, and drop a nice theme onto it, but the buttons - ughh. I'll live with it a year until QNX releases.
