Who is "Redington"? Is that the Carrier name? Where's it from?
Edit: Never mind, I found it - India.
Does it matter where a leak comes from? I assume no, since I installed and have been using the Telstra (Australia).
Is it better to wait for a North American leak? (Does it reallly matter?)Last edited by Searzy; 06-27-2012 at 06:28 AM.
I'm still here, happily rocking my leaked 7.1 Scorch (ahem Torch 9860, a.k.a. Storm 3)

Dang cdma phone that is way behind on OS builds.
Sent from me using my fingers. Be pantless in 5K. Febreze - for more than smells.

Here there a link to it on the BlackBerry site. The posted link goes to a third party web page.

The mic issue may be specific to the Bold. Would need someone on the Torch to confirm that its still a problem on AT&T. Otherwise a comment like "don't waste your time" doesn't really help anyone.
- 06-27-2012, 09:40 AM #9
Not necessarily. The mic problem is location related. Some ATT users in certain areas do not have a mic problem while other areas have it.
The confirmed "good areas" are: Texas, So. California, Louisville, and Chicago.
There probably are other areas that have no problem as well. But beware if you travel to a bad area, as you will have mic issues.
EDIT: These issues are reported consistently on the 9900 and 9810.Last edited by tsells; 06-27-2012 at 09:48 AM.

Sounds like your carrier is still in the stone ages if they use CDMA.

I am using Virgin Mobile Canada which is on Bell Canada's network; they are technically the CDMA network of Canada, yet the offer the 9860 and not the 9850 device. I guess with 3 and 4G being the norm today no uses the older networks anymore (CDMA or GSM). - 06-27-2012, 11:28 AM #12
Yes they are behind but the one that works best where I live and go.

Ditto. Need a decent OS. .5XX have some new tech to kill running processes and keep batt cool (lasts longer) and memory usage down. Just shows how much investment some carriers have in approving updated OSes.

This is just sad. A new OS - nearly a hundred builds higher than the previous leak/official and the findings/ fixes thread on the world's premiere BB enthusiast site is a complete ghost town. Forget looking at stock price, sell through reports, consumer preferences or any other marker. The state of things is plain to see right here.

That doesn't seem to work with the virtual keyboard.
Edit:
It works but on the 9860 keyboard we have to enter "??5*" (remove the quotation marks).Last edited by ad19; 06-27-2012 at 01:53 PM.

Installed this morning with no issues. The install took about 45mins, I did do two batt pulls right after. After about 6-7 hrs of running the battery drain is sitting at 4.3% and 6.4 mem leaked, which isn't horrible. I have been using bbm, text, email, app world, ran some games on lunch, and watched a video at break and so far so good.
Everything is running smoothly, a great upgrade from .4xx, as for the media bug I have not noticed it yet but I will test it out some more this evening.
Also have tested Mobile Hotspot on Rogers and all is working wonderfully.
I will keep an eye on it and update any other findings later on.
Should be worth it

Verizon and Sprint have this to test. Would be nice if a tester dropped a copy on us.
