I ditched 7.1 and downgraded back to this one. The memory leak and crappy battery life on .190 just weren't worth it, plus I had GPS related issues, etc. Not worth it. So time to try this OS out. Will post findings after I've had the day with it, but 12 hours in, it already seems a bit more stable.

Hey guys, so here's a quick run down.
Battery life so far hasn't been great. But I'm a heavy user, so its been typical for most of the recent OSes. Memory management is starting out decent... No memory leak yet, although I'm expecting one to start between tonight and tomorrow. If I don't see it, this will be great news. Keyboard responds well. So far, everything has been fine...

Correct. And something triggered a memory drop around 20 hours in, but it seems to have stabilized again.

Is it advisable to move from 7.1.0.190 to this official build .598? I am on .190 since last 2-3 days. Battery has become stable now with 3-4% but memory leak is big issue. In one day, it is down by 20-30mb while in OS 7 it use to 2-3mb.

Its all up to you, but I'm finding this OS to be fairly stable thus far. I'll be interested to see how the battery life levels out (especially now that I changed the mobile network settings), but the improvement in memory has been good for me. I was leaking 50MB+/day on 7.1.0.190, so I'm much happier at this point.
I'd say that if you aren't bothering to use the mobile hotspot, then there is no reason to stay on .190.

Have you noticed battery bug from 100 to 91 in this build also as it was in 585, 579 etc. I am not using hotspot at all and leaking of 50mb everyday becomes mandatory to reset everyday. if the battery bug is removed from this build .598, it make sense to downgrade from .190.

I'm happy with 7.1 in my 9860 so far. Battery life last around 8 hours (always carrying a charger in my bag), in terms of memory, i soft reset my bb every 3 days (around 50 MB left) and i'm a heavy user. Lots of BBM, BB groups, emails, Twitter and facebook 3-4 times a day, browsing..

It has the battery bug but it sits at 100% for a while before dropping.

Leaked OS 7.1.0.205 for BlackBerry Torch 9860 Findings and Fixes - 01-19-2012, 05:11 AM #22
thanks for the updates guys...I believe this will be installed for me this weekend. Please update if you notice anything else. I don't need mobile hotspot, so not going to bother with 7.1 until the issues are ironed out.
911 takes too long, a squeeze of the trigger will solve the problem...and I can save minutes...when seconds count...

ok so is this a 7.1 thread or is this for the 7.0.0.598?? Think I'm just going to load this as there is not enough data for me todecide...can always downgrade if needed...

Same here... .205 is good except for the memory leak. Memory held up better on this OS (7.0.0.598) but even that eventually dropped as well.
