Help me ! My 9860 can't install any OS
My Blackberry 9860 is not an official device. It's a test device for engineer. So its default OS is LEAKED 7.0.0.261.It has so many error, like: when run app need connecting network, my device report: previous instance still active. I can't find the way to solve this problem.
So I try to install new OS. I try three OS: 7.0.0.540. 7.1.0.342 7.1.0.267. But when install all of those is crashed at step: Reconnect to JVM. It all failed. My computer report: can't connect to device......
So I install its default OS 7.0.0.261 LEAKED again and it's OK.
Now i can't install any different OS.
Someone help me please

Being a test device and not an official device opens you up to some unknown variables. I've used evaluation devices before wuthout issue, upgraded and downgraded os as well, but I do know of some persons that had issues like you are reporting. Its not for commercial use so I would report this into your RIM contact and get a replacement. Trying to troubleshoot an evaluation device may not be worthwhile. I don't think it was intended to be updated anyway, just my thoughts though.

Wipe all OS from your PC. Uninstall and reinstall the BB Usb drivers. Install any 9860 OS. Remove all vendor files. Install JLCMNDR. Wipe the device. Reset to factory default. Disconnect computer from internet. Run loader and be patient. Let me know if this works.

Are using apploader or DM? Use apploader. Remove battery. Connect usb to phone when hear windows see the phone hit enter. When you see the os being installed put battery in. If the install gets done before you do you'll have to do it again. If this doesn't work use the jvm force command.

You have an internal device, obviously not meant for. You, since it would only be handed to an engineer or contracted tester. Somewhere on it is undoubtedly a label, stating "Not for Resale". Not sure how you obtained it, but I would work on getting a proper official BlackBerry, and give up trying to make this one do what it's not intended to.

So what must I do now?

Can't do anything to upgrade??? - 07-25-2012, 07:22 AM #19
That would depend on how you obtained the phone. If it was sold to you with full disclosure it was a test device, then you have no recourse with the seller, and have to live with owning a unique item. If it wasn't, I'd ask them to exchange it for a proper, working phone.

I bought it from eBay .It's an old 9860. I have never heard anyone said that tester device can't upgrade OS.

So I bought it! - 07-25-2012, 07:45 AM #21

Kill pin. Wow. I think I must change something in Engineer Screen but oh my god . I don't know anything in that.
But it only run with OS 7.0.0.261. Why? Mysterious so Blackberry

You apparently have little experience with BlackBerries at all. I don't think mucking with the E-screen will resolve a locked down test device.
Appreciate what you have, and look for an official retail phone to use.WAPers do it With A Passion

I have a friend who collects old and unique BBs. She usually gives $25-$50 for pre-production run devices once the official device is released - for the exact reasons you are experiencing. Essentially the device can not be upgraded and often no applications will load or run properly on early software. I forget the name of her website and blog - it's colonial something or another. If you're interested PM me and I can have her contact you.
