Default HELLLP! I can't install OS 7.1 on my 9860 no matter what I've tried!

Before y'all start thinking I'm just another clueless noob, I've wiped and installed BBOS on my other previous BlackBerry's dozens of times without a problem like this. And, yes, I've poked through other threads on CB before posting this.

I bought an unlocked AT&T branded Torch 9860 to use here on the Telus network. When it came in the mail, I charged it up and it started up fine. I put the SIM in and it logged on to Telus' network without a problem. The software version I started out with was 7.0.0.440. I plugged it into my desktop manager running on Windows 7 64 bit in hopes of getting a decent version of 7.1.X.XXX right off the bat but noooooooooooo... it only upgraded to 7.0.0.576! I manually downloaded the latest version of the 7.1 (7.1.0.523) from Redington in India and installed it.

    THEN

I fired up BBSAK and it connected to the device like this:

    BBSAK 1.JPG

And, yes, it actually DID connect with the PIN and everything...

    And I get this!

    BBSAK 2.JPG

I did that a few more times with the same stupid result...

So I tried the App Loader in the Common Files...

    and it connects like this:

    Application Loader 1.JPG

    loads up like this:

    Application Loader 2.1.JPG

AND I end up with this!!!

    Application Loader 2.2.JPG

I tried going to the official RIM software download page for my carrier and getting Telus' official 7.1 (7.1.0.267) and I tried the same things all over again and I got the same friggin results! I tried 507'ing the phone the software still won't load! I combed through CB trying to find some insight, ANY insight into my problem here. I tried downloading several different versions from different carriers, different sources and it's the same damn thing! I tried hunting down and destroying any and all vendor.xml files, uninstalling and re-installing BlackBerry DM several times, uninstalling and re-installing anything and everything BlackBerry related, I tried other loader programs, I tried cleaning my system caches and registry with CCleaner over and over, I tried unplugging my internet connection, I tried standing on my head and yodelling pagan rain chants while setting fire to my shoes!!! I'm still stuck with AT&T's official 7.0.0.576! Nothing works at all!!!!!

Do any of you geniuses have any more ides?

I want to choke the living s**t out of the AT&T executives and IT who have handcuffed my new BlackBerry like this. A pox on all their houses to the third generation!
You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same!

Oh boy! It sounds like you have run the gamut of ideas. I hope someone has suggestions that you have not yet tried. Please keep us posted on how it's going. Good luck!

I feel your pain, fellow BlackBerry brother, but to eliminate every possible scenario, did you make sure you removed all the vendor.xml files first?

I had this problem with my at&t issued bold 9000. Couldn't install os other than the one that officialy released by at&t. Many others that are having same issue with their at&t branded phone and no workaround i've found other than install the at&t os.

    Okee dokee...

Ummm... I'm not 100% sure exactly how I did it BUT I made the upgrade to 7.1.0.523 happen with the DM somehow...

    Proof right here:

    Yay!

This DOES NOT make me hate AT&T any less, however... Draconian a****les...

Well first of all, I'm running that 7.1.0.523 from redington just fine on my 9860, you must search on your hard drive search space for the two vendor files an delete them, then go to DM and just hit to upgrade software that's how I did. If that doesn't work perhaps you should uninstall DM and reinstall it again

Ha ha. Ran into that same problem myself. Did a few upgrades successfully on the 9000 and 9860. Waited a few months to do another upgrade on the 9860 and ran into that problem. Turned out one of the two vendor.xml files was hidden and I had forgotten to do a search on hidden files to delete it. Lost my phone usage for the weekend while pulling my hair out.
