Default Does the Blackberry torch 9850 have mobile internet function?

I have had all my current phones switched back to black berry.

My Iphone 5 became the latest Blackberry bold.

My windows Phone has become my current latest Blackberry Curve.

But now I am hesitent as I realize that before converting my last phone to the black berry torch 985o, does it have the ability to finction as a mobile hotspot?

The one great thing that draws me with this phone is not needing an internet plan and using my phone as an instant router. Does the TORCH have this ability?

I own a Torch 9860 and it functions as a mobile hotspot.....not sure if the 9850 is the same. But I believe you require a data plan to access the internet, and then use the phone as a hotspot.

Looks like you're suggesting that an internet plan isn't necessary

If you are pairing a PlayBook thru Bridge you don't need to pay for Hot Spot tho it does have it if you need.

The 9850 does have mobile hotspot capability, as of BBOS 7.1.x, but at least for Sprint, it requires paying extra.

Yes. Since all versions of the 9850 have a 7.1 release available, they all have this feature. Now whether your carrier charges extra for this feature is for you to further research.

if you tap on the time @ the top of 9850 screen the connection page will pop up,,, check tick box that says mobile hot spot,,, if a notice to contact your phone service provider for activation pops up you'll usually have to pay extra, if not have fun,,, it's $20/mo on Sprint,,, it's be nice to have but ain't worth $20 to me when there's hotspots just about everywhere where i go...
