    Default Do you shrink?

I was wondering if people still bother with shrinking their OS, so if you care to tell, do you?

Myself, I used to up until .746 but I just didn't bother after installing it ...

Absolutely, yes. I've been running the BL hybrids for a while now (very, very smooth). It's just one more small step to shrink before loading. And, the loading goes more quickly with the shrunk OS.

That's the first thing that came to my mind as well.

But to answer the question, yes. I find if I don't I have to restart too often. There is some much crap that isn't needed but takes up valuable space.

However, a lot of stuff can just be left out by not clicking on it when loading a new OS, assuming you use loader.exe.

One thing to remember is the languages are the biggest lot of files that can be shrunk out. This can be done without preshrinking simply by unchecking the languages when using apploader. 7.1 is now giving you the option to remove the startup video. All the shrinking programs aren't able to take this out now anyway so to me, it doesn't serve a lot of usefulness to shrink.

Yep, languages you're not using are best left out. They take a significant amount of space. Also, remove all the fonts except the default font that BlackBerry uses. BBH Tools will prompt you about it.

If you mean remove useless apps than yes I do! No point in wasting space with extra junk. I just feel your BlackBerry functions better when you only use what you need.

Although I did just install an OS in which I removed apps and things I don't use before installing and this morning my alarm clock didn't work for some reason.. So I would recommend only removing things if you really know what they are..

when in doubt remember LIFTA = LEAVE IT THE FVCK ALONE!!! I stick to removing languages, apps, games, fonts, etc. that i KNOW i don't use & can SAFELY remove,,, for instance, if you're on Sprint & there's a Verizon App in the build you can ditch it & i don't speak or read chinese, so, i can delete 3 or 4 hundred languages right there,,, BBHTool is great for this...

If you are on Sprint, the Verizon App won't install anyway so there isn't a need to remove it.

Btw while on the subject of shrinking, anyone shrunk his OS directly on the phone using BBH Tools? I believe this option is still a Beta, any feedback will be appreciated.

Yes I have. After making DM and BBSAK back-ups. Worked OK both times I tried it.

That's a pretty cool feature. I haven't used it with the BBH Tools but have with the BB Boss and it works great.

My phone would be rendered un-useable if I didn't shrink and run on a hybrid
