Can't open email messages
Okay, I'm afraid I'm being dumb here, but I have three email accounts, all registered on my new device, all the mail is showing up, but I can not open any of the emails. I tap on the message - nothing. I highlight the message and hit the BB button and select Open - and nothing happens. What gives?

Try a battery pull. Should most likely fix the problem. But if that doesnt work then you may need to reinstall the OS. I recommend upgrading to leak .353, ALL of my glitches went away after upgrading. Hope I helped! and if I did, clickem mah Thanks button! Take Care!

Bat pull did not help.

I have the exact same problem and a battery pull (numerous) did not fix it. I guess I will try to hunt for the leaked version. This is very odd. I've been on Blackberries, including the storm and storm 2 for close to ten years. Never saw anything like this.

I'm downloading the 353 leak right now to give it a shot. I can't believe Verizon would ship this unable to open any email. Another blunder. It reminds me of the Storm 1 release. It was months before we got a stable release. I'm hoping this goes better.

At this point, I have not been able to figure out what the problem may be. So few of us have them, I don't yet know if ANYONE has it working properly on Verizon, or if this problem is only affecting some users.
I mean, is it possible that, because we got our phones early, something is not yet functioning with Verizon? Could the carrier have anything to do with it? I don't have any idea. - 09-07-2011, 03:08 PM #15
I wanted to start fresh, so I nuked my account on our BES server and have not loaded any applications yet. Mine came with software version 7.0.0.254.
I got a 9930 for one of our guys a couple days ago and he didn't have any trouble opening email or the internet. - 09-07-2011, 03:11 PM #16Playbook wishlist

OK, I loaded 353 and I CAN open email and browse the internet. I'm surprised we are not seeing a ton of Verizon users complaining about this. Amazing.
oh, one more thing. 353 is WAAAAY more responsive than the software that came on the phone. The phone was sluggish at best before the update.Last edited by McIrish; 09-07-2011 at 03:16 PM.

McIrish, a TON of Verizon users don't HAVE the phone yet. It comes out TOMORROW...lol
But thanks so much for coming back so quickly with your report. Downloading that update now.
However, it seems to me that a literal TON of Verizon users WILL be complaining quite loudly very soon. I am currently up to 24 unread emails that I can not open.Last edited by jhimmel; 09-07-2011 at 03:16 PM.

Sorry I wasn't clear. From the very beginning, I had no intention of installing any of my old apps onto the 9850. So, I started fresh, including deleting my user (storm2) off the BES server. After setting up email, I could never read the email or browse the internet until I loaded 353 software onto the phone. That's the only thing that worked for me. I'm hoping someone comes up with a different fix. I can imagine there will be an extremely high return rate till this is sorted out. It's a shame. After all the problems that plagued the Storm, I thought Verizon were waiting to release this so they were sure they had solid software. From what I can tell, they released it with earlier software than any of the other vendors.

If you use the loader program and do a backup, you won't need to get a new BES password.
Loader.exe is in Program Files/Common Files/ Research in Motion/AppLoader/loader.exe
It's installed with desktop manager. Hope this helps. - 09-07-2011, 03:51 PM #24
I feel the frustration you must be going through. A nice new toy and right off the bat you have major issues. Hang in there, it will be fixed and you will love this new touch device it is a really great product. Verizon must check to make sure they work with the software they are shipped with....don't they?

I didn't delete the vendor file and it worked fine.
