Blackberry is now in the past
Well fellow blackberry users I am done. I just went through 4 VZW Torch phones in two months. Two would not send or recieve email. One the center button stuck down and number 4 the buttons just quit responding. They graciously offered Torch number 5 and I laughed at the lady on the phone. I argued with her for 45 minutes to either let me out of the contract and buy my phone back for the price I paid or I would just walk to another carrier and deal with the contract through a lawyer, a free one, my father in law.
She would not budge. I hung up and two days later a company rep called me. We discussed options. He asked what can I do to keep you. I told him give me a new iPhone 16 gb to replace the Torch. He said in friendly terms that the world would burn to ash before VZW would upgrade any BB to an iPhone. He said we don't give away iconic phones. I told him the Torch was an iconic phone and he did agree. He ask what other option could I think of. I told him give me my money back on the Torch and I would buy an iPhone and keep my contract. He said well let's talk this out. He said VZW will not replace anything but another iPhone with an iPhone but it was within his power to refund any fees he saw neccessary to keep ones business. So I jumped ship! Sorry guys but 4 phones in two months just doesn't work for me. I was very upset that I dealt with the devil for a phone but I got away from BB, been a berry user almost 7 years. Got my original Torch cost refunded in the form of VZW bill credit, which is okay and all iPhone eccessories 50% off.
This forum has been a pleasure, I have spent hours here just reading. Good luck and Merry Christmas to all.

sucks you had a bad experience. seems like the os7 devices do have manufacturing issues and im glad both my 9900 and 9860 both were great out of the box...going on months for both and no issues.
its ridiculous big red's rep calls you and could not keep you. oh well. - 12-16-2011, 01:56 PM #3
Wow what a streak of bad luck.
I bought mine directly from vzw on the phone and maybe i was lucky but my 9850 works great. I really wished all had this satisfactory of an experience.

You've had a Blackberry for 7 years and you had all these problems? I find that hard to believe. I've had my torch on sprint for 4 months and no problem. There was actually a problem with my email the first couple days I got it but when I took it in they were able to fix it for me in like 5 minutes...

i had multiple problems with the curve 8530..i think i went through 5 or 6 of them in 6 months...now i have the torch 9850 and i LOVE it! yes, some blackberrys have problem but i'm a blackberry girl til i die or they die whichever comes first. i tried android and blah so not me. i had to reload that once a week and had no idea how to fix it; blackberrys are easy to fix, pull out battery, put it back & tada!
all said, I'M STICKING WITH MY BLACKBERRY! <3<3's her android - 12-16-2011, 08:12 PM #9
I've gone thru 4 as well, but I haven't made up my mind to get #5. I'm using my faithful S2 and I will make up my mind by the end of the month.
While they lasted (no more than 3 weeks each) I was very pleased with the 9850.
Oh well, life goes on. - 12-16-2011, 11:41 PM #10
Some of these issues have to be user related. I have had my vzw 9850 since the day before launch and never any issues. Just loaded 7.1 this morning and it is even better! I tried droids and the I phone, no way they were better than the 9850 for me. Strange that some folks have issues and others never do. Has to be user related!

Well, that sucks. I am on my third 9850 from the bricking issue. I've not had any issues since, even when it was very low on battery and I charged it overnight (probably because I have had newer OS builds since). I was conflicted about what to do if I kept getting the bricking issue, but I'd never go iPhone myself (I got one for my wife, but not for me). If anything, I'd have gone Android but I love BB too much. I love my 9850, and now with wifi hotspot via 7.1

I just read this whole story as.....
Hi i work for apple and have been paid to post this.... you know like belkin was doing a few months back.
Its all very nice that you feel so emotionally attached that you feel you need to come and bid farewell, but totally not bothered! All these stories of multiple phones are a joke... at what point could it start possibly being the end users fault?9000 > 9700 > 9800 > 9860... - 12-17-2011, 04:09 AM #15
Take it easy. Sounds like some tough luck with tech. Must suck.

The first 2 returned units "that wouldn't receive email" sound like user error and/or system errors.
What kind of hardware error prevents you from receiving email while other data works?
It's a shame that so many reps just exchange without logging a tech support ticket first. It creates this false perception of faulty hardware.Saving the world, one OS at a time...

Just read the first post and I have no idea why.
But what I can't figure out, has anyone EVER had a problem isolated to sending/receiving email that was actually a hardware problem??? Makes no sense.
I bet I could have gotten all of your phones that were replaced working to the point where a reasonable and knowledgable person would have loved them. - 12-17-2011, 04:41 PM #18
Well, it was interesting to read your story, i wish it could be other way for you... but i have the feeling you will come back some day

Verizon uses Mexico made devices and they are worst then the others that made in Europe / Canada
Merry Christmas. - 12-18-2011, 01:34 PM #20
Just got my 9860 from AT&T and the thing is smooth as silk.
Had one 9930 nuke itself and got it replaced with a refurbished device that is rock solid thus far.
Have a 9810 which is also rock solid with only one hiccup since August.
Too bad you had negative experiences, one right after the other.Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy, and good with ketchup
Isn't it amusing how people who claim to not enjoy CB at all simply can't stay away????
It's because it's CRACKBERRY, the BEST BB site....
