Bad Batch of 9850 or is it Verizon?
So I have tried many a BlackBerry's that's what us "addicts" do, right? Try on different styles to see what suits us individually the hit CrackBerry to know of reoccuring issues or new cases.
I have the Storm 2 but I have tried out the Torch 9850 and to my dismay I had to replace it 4 times!
Sure I fell in love with the Torch! It's amazing! From its super easy and fast keyboard to the co,lr display and man o man the phone takes beautiful videos! All this plus its still super easy to email long messages! BUT.....
The 1st Torch started pixelating, the 2nd froze a lot, the 3rd just died- yep, no warnings just died. It wouldn't come on at all but blinked a slow red LED and when plugged in w/o the battery (Initially thought I had a bad battery so I replace it) it would back light and show a empty battery icon w/ a red 'X' through it. It was a total surprise since this one worked PERFECT! The 4th works but I switched back to my Storm afraid I'll have to yet again buy/replace another Torch
Is anyone experincing this?
What have you done?
Did you find a solution?
Please share your stories, advice and opinions!

I had issues with the first one. Bad OS no email or browser.
Took it back and second one had the same deal but I was determined to get it to work.
Did a wipe with bbsak and loaded up the latest OS and it works like a champ now.
That vzw OS from launch day was junk. And they new it. Their response was to wait for an update...that came WEEKS later...inexcusable.

No Major Issues
I've had my VZW BlackBerry Torch 9850 for several months and had really no problems.... Perhaps an occasional freeze, but other than that no major issues... I even did the OTA update when it was available and that went very well. So not all BlackBerry Torch 9850's are bad with VZW.

I ordered mine from Verizon direct fulfillment the day it came out. I have had zero hardware problems with it. All of the bugs on the original OS (home screen lagging and the uncaught exception error being the big ones) were fixed with the .374 from Verizon and .464 from US Cellular OS updates.

The third one you probably could have fixed with a OS reinstall, as someone mentioned the stock OS is usually junk!
btw mine doesnt boot without a battery either, i get the red X icon you mention
It does however work flawlessly!!

Hey same boat here...
1st email & browser didn't work / fixed with an Os reload
2nd escape key button broke, felt mushy / Verizon sent a new one
3rd woke up to a fried phone, red led light flashing though, late to work / Verizon sent a new one
4th ... I'm on right now so scared something else will happen oh something did!..
2 nights ago battery level @ 30% "battery too low for radio use" turned off radio itself, rebooted itself, told me 3% battey left ... Okay what the heck???..

Wow, sorry to hear about all your problems with the new Torch. I've had my 9850 on VZW for a few weeks now. Everything has been working perfect, except for the minor OS bugs. I'm an old Storm user and could never go back after the 9850. Hope everything works out

I am a new Blackberry user, traded in my DroidX for this torch 9850. Had it 3 weeks and no issues, but would love to put some kind of Hybrid OS, to get rid of some of the bloat-ware it came with, and also help it run better. Hangs at times, but nothing major. Much better than my droid, but not as many apps that android has.

1st and foremost- thank you all for the posts! I appreciate it

Glad to hear it isn't just me having issues but also delighted that many of you don't have issues.
The 4th one I have is now slow (I have done a update as well 2 wipes) I really like it but I'm at wits end

I have had my 9860 from Telus for about a month and I must say I love it and have experienced no real issues as of yet. I wish I could get a screen protector I like because the screen does worry me being its not glass. I had one that come with my otterbox case but I had to take it off and couldn't get it back on right and that's not even anything to do with the phone lol.
