Any problems so far with the BB9860/9850?
Come let's share your observation of your new BB9860/9850.
From my own observation, I do notice that BB9860 touch screen is not as sensitive to iPhone.
Hopefully, this prob will be resolved in the new OS.Last edited by ipos; 11-21-2011 at 04:03 AM.

No problems t all (touch wood) with my 9860. Apart from the odd freeze every now and again thats it. Nothing a battery pull doesnt fix.
I've never tried the iPhone touch screen, so couldn't compare the two, but mine is very responsive. Too responsive at times

Does anyone experience browser closing unexpectedly and prompting you if you would like to reopen, which it always does but its just annoying, also checkerboard issues when scrolling and the ability of not being able to hide pics as the box will not let me put a checkmark into it. These things are the most annoying to me I guess the browser closing really annoys me and is at the top of my list I'm running .374

what irritates me is that the touch screen is not responsive, say i press digit 9 and the other digit next to 9 will appear.
anyone had similar experience? - 11-21-2011, 09:46 AM #9
This is the 4th time my monza is giving me problem
Anyone has the same problem?
Since I bought my monza 9860 about 1.5 months ago, I had to do OS reinstallation 3 times before I could finally use it!! And today, after watching a movie in my monza, I had to restart (pull battery) the phone because the phone response rate is late and making the movie runs very unsmoothly. But after putting the batt back, my monza keep restarting itself even before going to the main page.. HELPPPPP..
What is wrong with Monza? It seems that it's very unstable
I'm thinking of getting rid off it and change to a non blackberry phone cause clearly blackberry is not very concern with its software quality.. only concern on looking pretty.. Considering also my batt in monza last for about 5-8 hrs top
Will RIM ever fix that? Or do they even realize it?
Could anyone give some advice? Thanks all - 11-21-2011, 10:41 AM #10
My friend bought the 9850 on mid Sept and yesterday its nuke by itself.. He left his phone charging overnight and in the morning his monza only showing black screen with the led blinking in red. We have tried pull the batt but the screen remaining blank and it wouldn't load the os. I think the problem in 9850 has the same problem with 9900 when sometimes can be nuked by itself...

9860 here. Had it since O2 UK launch date. Not a single issue whatsoever. Currently running the latest software from Vodafone UK. I've never had the phone freeze, reboot itself, browser crash or any other issue. My battery lasts between 36 and 48 hours and all this was the case with the previous software versions too. If anything, the battery charge has improved as the software has been updated.

I just picked mine up this past weekend and the only two things I've found are an inability to connect to the home wifi network (corrected by adjusting the router settings) and the inability to charge the phone in the car. I'm using the USB cable provided by BlackBerry and a car charger that has worked on my old BlackBerry Tour and previous Blackberrys and other phones without issue, but when I plug it into my 9850, I get a message saying the USB source cannot charge the device.

IMO this phone has quite a few issues - battery life sucks, the plastic screen scratches if you look at it the wrong way, memory leaks galore, the keyboard especially the portrait one is not even close to the iphone's for response and accuracy, spinning clock every so often not to mention the bricking issue that some other user's have had (fortunately I have not had that yet...) - I don't know - it's suppose to have the same guts as the Torch 9810 & the Bold 9900 which I also have but I don't experience these issues on the other 2. Yup, I think it is a POS but I still use this one the most because of the larger screen and my 4s can't do a lot of the hardcore communication things that the BB can do

My 9850 has run pretty stable for the most part.
With moderately light use I can probably go about 3 days on a charge. I've had the phone off the charger now since this morning and still have 2/3 batt life left.
Two things I do to enhance the experience:
- I am quite religious about Closing all apps that are not in use so they don't sit in the background draining the battery.
- I installed Meterberry and set it up to do an automatic Reset every night so the device is "fresh" each morning.
For the keyboard, I agree it is not as easy to use as the iPhone. But after using it for some time I noticed that the "sweet spot" is to try to aim at the upper left-hand corner of each key. Since doing this I can type rather fast with minimal errors. I also tend to type in landscape mode b/c portrait mode is too tight for my tastes.
All-in-all, I'm in love with the phone. My wife also has a 9850 and she's had zero problems.Last edited by CracklePot; 11-21-2011 at 10:21 PM.

its a great phone. i like it. the only issue i have with it is that the back button has went flat and flush with the rest of the phone, making ti difficult to press at times. the button is still functional though

Uhm my only issue is that the trackpad is a little slanted. And other than that no issues at all. When I first bought the phone back at Nov.3 I noticed that the screen freezes but after 2 days and letting the Os settle it works without an issue. Its like an iPhone but its more reliably As a communications tool. Love my torch.

No the screen is not as responsive as an iPhone. I think it's because the screen is plastic. I've noticed I have to apply more pressure on the screen to make it slide better. Also my 9850 freezes a few times a day. It's much better than the release software. Hopefully this is corrected soon. I've had to reset my iPhone once in the last 3 months because it froze. My 9850 I've had to do a few battery pulls a week because it froze. I need a BBX phone bad. After using the PlayBook, the 9850 is still...well BlackBerry as we know it today lol.

On 9850 #3 from Verizon since end of September. If you don't have to buy a BB becasue of work emails buy something else.

Hi all,
I'm also facing problem with my BB9860. Notice it freeze quite often lately. Either I went for browsing or just on the menu. Roughly I HAV somewhere 65 to 70 apps running - visible and non visible apps. Dunno why. Had few times to do hard reset. Most of times it shows busy indication.
Another issue is that I notice is when charged using usb port, I can see like some one is pressing the virtual keyboard. Like a ghost is typing it. This happens all the time during usb charging. Means I can't use it at all. My BB is using v7.0.0.296
Anyone face same issues here?

Agreed with the statement the battery sucks. I already tried to install apps like battery booster pro. But still the same. Really dunno why. My BB already set to 2G, lowest screen brightness. But seems no changes. I think if I runs on 3G, it will drain faster.
