9850-Looking For Car Vent Holder That Swivels!!!Please
Looking for advice on a Vented Car Mount that can swivel easy from portrait to landscape easily.
Is there good model out there that works great? Seen some suctions, but I need vent holder.
Advice and information would be greatly appreciated, thanks - 04-24-2012, 10:12 PM #2
i got this for my iphone/ipod. i would never use another kind of holder again. the drawbacks of a vent holder is its either blowing cold air or hot air on the device its holding. and window mounts just blow chunks for all sorts of reasons.

that's not bad , but gripping the sides blocks the charger port and volume buttons. I know you don't want a suction mount, but I made this from a modified 8350i clip and a suction mount with camera style swivel ball mount and a 1/4-20 nut. EZ-pass velcro on the clip and on the back of the phone holds it securely. The velcro gives a good no-slip feel especially in the dark or when you pick it up
If you can find a vent mount with a similar attachment, you could make one, too.
BTW, that's the sprint body glove cover on the phone, if you don't take it apart too often (as in battery pulls), it holds up pretty well. The Otterbox commuter case is probably a better choice but I still carry it in a bold leather holster and the Otterbox is too big for itLast edited by b1gbleu; 04-25-2012 at 10:32 PM.

you can flip it around or upside down to make it take on different positions. basically, flip it upside down and just have it clamp the top of the phone, leaving the charge port unobstructed. i used the mount with my 9860 before i sold it without an issue. it clamps the phone tight and it doesnt slip out.

You're looking for a "Grabbit"......
I found mine at my Honda dealer in the waiting room for service.
It has spring loaded fingers that reach into the AC vent to capture the mount, then you "clamp" the device into the holder. And YES, it does rotate on a small gimbal ball socket.
About 15 bucks.

This is the one I've used for about a year for my BlackBerry and Android phones. Still going strong. Bracketron PHV-202-BL Grip-iT GPS and Mobile Device Holder (Black):Amazon:GPS & Navigation
The arms adjust for access to ports, and can be used in vertical/horizontal orientations. Has worked with my Tour, Style, and Motorola Photon. You could also switch out the vent base fir suction cup or other bases if your needs change.
I use it in my commercial truck, and it has held up well.Last edited by BergerKing; 05-03-2012 at 09:14 AM.

Image of AC vent holder...
Here is an image of my setup. I had to modify it a bit to accept my gps, but as opened from the box, it will seculy hold your phone.
Should be avail at other dealers in the parts section for the people waiting to get their oil changed.
Hope this helps.
