First off, Wi-fi calling now appears (orange uk) its not UMA but its a start!
I also haven't yet had the media player / tinny audio bug

Responsiveness is the same as last few 7.1 leaks
Still reinstalling apps so will post anything else i find, i do however think this is the last release we'll see!

Will be installing shortly, but I was hoping for more reviews :-) - 08-20-2012, 02:08 PM

I'm very disappointed to report tinny audio bug still present and annoying
Damn it RIM how can this go unfixed for so long!? - 08-20-2012, 02:23 PM #4
Really? Damn! What about the dimming screen bug?
I'll assume the memory leak will not be anywhere near gone either...
Someone give me a reason to install this OS please!

I installed .649 today. I can confirm that Wi-Fi Calling does now appear in the Mobile Network Menus (Wi-Fi Calling Preferred), thanks for the tip dvc.
I can't confirm Wi-Fi Calling works yet for calls, as I' won't be connected to Wi-Fi until I get home. Here's hoping (I am on Rogers and do still have Wi-Fi UMA access enabled on my account).Klotar

Ugh!
Not impressed so far. I have a phantom email notification that won't go away. Multiple reboots and mark prior opened attempts.
But this isn't even the worst thing. I can't edit or create and autotext/word substitution! WTF!?
Can anyone else confirm this? - 08-20-2012, 09:36 PM #13
I am using .649 on 9860 since last 12hrs. Not noticing any big improvement over .569. To me 569 had more stable signal than 649 since I noticed loss of signal or fluctauting from 1 bar to 3 in my room more frequentlly while it was stable in .569. Any one else notice this?

I am not sure. I probably have been subscribed to Wi-Fi Calling (UMA) on Rogers even though I no longer had a UMA device (kept hoping for UMA or Wi-Fi Calling to come "any time now" I suppose).
Anyways, after installing .649, it was already set to Wi-Fi Preferred in Mobile Network Preferences. So, as soon as I got home and connected to my home network, I got a new icon (which replaced the H+ indicator) to show Wi-Fi Calling, and a few info boxes reminding me that if I go out of range, my call may drop, etc. Tested out a couple calls, and all works great.
If it does work for you without a Wi-Fi Callling Plan ($5/mo) or TalkSpot Plan, then I guess it's not necessary. If it doesn't work, then I can only guess that one is needed.Klotar

This is not unusual for RIM. It is one of the many reasons why they find themselves in the position they are currently in. The Storm 2 was one of RIM's first devices to hae open GLES enabled. About 6 months in they released an OS that went official for most carriers that broke this functionality. It was almost a year later before an official fix was released. I realize that the JAVA team and the BB10 team are seperate, but I join the masses who have little faith in RIM to deliver a top notch product. They've already shown that 'on-time' is still an issue. I have seen nothing to show me that top performance and attention to detail have changed. I have a great deal of hope, that BB10 will deliver. But each day brings more reason to doubt it.

Been running the new .649 for a day... LOVING IT.
This phone is on par with the iPhone 4S in my books. The apps I want, I have (though they could be updated)
Social Feeds - Like EFFing update it!!
But this phone is awesome!!I'm still here, happily rocking my leaked 7.1 Scorch (ahem Torch 9860, a.k.a. Storm 3)

Not too impressed really, over a day running this....
1-media bug is still there
2-cant create or edit word substititions
3-battery drain seems higher than .569
4- initially touch screen wld not respond, needed a reboot, never happened before.
I may try a wipe and reinstall if I have the time. - 08-22-2012, 09:13 AM #22I'm still here, happily rocking my leaked 7.1 Scorch (ahem Torch 9860, a.k.a. Storm 3)

I do a "clean wipe" with every upgrade (avoids problems), and if I do get a problem, usually a clean wipe re-install would fix it. I've done that for the PlayBook a couple of times..
Re-configuring your settings is pretty much un-avoidable, even with the Desktop update.
It's not a 100% perfect process.I'm still here, happily rocking my leaked 7.1 Scorch (ahem Torch 9860, a.k.a. Storm 3)

It's easy..go to options>device>advanced system settings, push bb menu button, select show keyboard. Press the bottom left corner (&%123) and then ??5*..that's it. Actually it's the same as typing alt+bbda but in virtual keyboard. Hope it helps..
