Default What is it ? The black thingy right side of led

It's a very stupid question, I know, but what is that black dot on the right side of the led ?
I cannot find what is is anywhere. Is it à sensor of some sort ?

Thank you.

As others said, it's the proximity sensor to turn off the screen when you're on a call.

The flickering is the usually invisible infrared light.
for some reason on the BB it is visible. (It isn't supposed to be)

(Look at it with a camera and you can see it very easily [While in a call])

As well as shutting the screen off in a call, it can also adjust the brightness of the screen depending on how bright or dark the ambient lighting is.
