torch 9810 wont update
I've tried everything but am still stumped. It's a torch 9810 from Rogers in canada, but is unlocked and on the koodoo network now.
Phone started a scheduled update,(of which I hadn't set up), it froze while doing it, did a battery pull then it came back on saying linking java then app error 200 screen. Long story short, downloaded bbsak, wiped it and now it won't update no matter how I try. Phone is sitting here with 507 error. Using destop manager, i've tried the newest, the current and the older software updates and the all make it to a certain point then stop. Like right now its downloading module 520 of 589, it never gets past 520? Leave it sit and it will eventually come up saying something like "problem with your internet connection yada yada yada". Elementary I know but, did you go to your control panel on your PC (Start button>control panel>programs and features) and UNINSTALL ALL downloaded OS's except the one you are going to put on the phone? If not, that is the first thing to do--actually, delete all of them including the one you want on your phone? It's not enough to delete the downloads from the download folder or delete from the files, they must be uninstalled by the programs and features application.
Once you have done that you need to download vendelete.exe (dos program) and then run it so it can chase down and delete any and all vendor.xml files that are hiding from the other downloads on the PC. These are carrier branded files and you don't need them as they inhibit the install of newer OS's.
Once that is done, I'd reinstall the most current OS (.861) from the download site to your PC, then--click on AppLoader>Loader and let it do it's thing and install the newest OS. Wiping with BBSAK is a good move, and Loader will do it again as well. Then once it is installed, hook it up to BBDM and restore your info from your back up.
There is most likely a corrupted cod file or vendor.xml file causing the issues. This is simplified instructions as from your post it appears that you are OS experienced so forgive me if it is elementary to you and you have already done it. I just think a new reload on clean phone is needed and you have to dump the vendor.xml files on your PC to make that happen and those suckers hide everywhere. Good luck and keep us posted!
