Torch 9810 Accelerometer Freezes
The accelerometer on my Torch 9810 seems to lock up quite frequently. More than 50% of the time when I need to rotate my display (for taking a landscape photo or viewing a website in landscape) it simply won't rotate when I tilt the phone. I'm usually able to get it back by navigating to certain websites in the browser. This works some of the time, but not all the time. Sometimes I can get it to go back to normal with a battery pull reset, but that doesn't work every time either. Bottom line is I'm always able to get it to go back to normal by fiddling with it, but it's a rather annoying problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? - 10-25-2012, 11:13 PM #2

Two questions:
1. Are you using a case on your 9810? Sometimes a case can put pressure on the lock button and causea problem.
2. What OS version are you running?Torch 9810, 7.1.0.861

Re: Torch 9810 Accelerometer Freezes
Yes, I am using a case. However, it doesn't seem to matter whether it's in a case or not. I can be holding my 9810 in my hand and browsing websites, and suddenly won't be able to tilt the screen. Currently using 7.0.0.583 which I am unfurtunately unable to upgrade because it's an enterprise phone and the abaility to upgrade is locked down by my employer's IT policy.

I would talk to your IT person to see if you can upgrade to one of the 7.1 OS builds. I think your problem would be cured with an OS upgrade. Good luck.

I found a tip on another board suggesting that the device 'thinks' that the physical keyboard is still extended. I slid the keyboard open and closed a few times, a little bit forcefully, and the function returned. Perhaps a bit of dust or something became lodged in the track and prevented the sensor from detecting the closed keyboard condition.
