Opened my 9810 last night, downloaded software and all updates, loaded my old Torch stuff to my new phone -- and experienced the same scrolling and screen freezing issues. BTW I bought the new phone because the scrolling and screen freezing was driving me nuts.
Well the new phone has same issues. I was about to go to ATT to exchange for another phone when I found these posts about the case!
I used an "Otter" case for my old Torch and bought a new one for the new Torch 9810. Both phones experience the identical issues with scrolling and screen freezes.
Took the cases off both phones and both WORKed without issues!
I gently massaged the rubber case on my new "Otter" where it touches buttons and replaced on the phone. So far it appears to be a SUCCESSful resolution. With daily use it will squeeze itself back and cause the problem but now I know how to resolve it.
I guess that may be why so many people say that if the take the battery out and replace it works a couple days and then back to the problem. They loosened the case enough to prevent the problem but daily use squeezed the case and caused the problem again.
I think I'll email Otter and RIM to ask for a resolution -- at least let me change the sensitivity of the side buttons...or at least I haven't figured that one out yet.
Thanks for the post!
