Default Problems Galore! Help Appreciated!

I searched around for the same problem in the forums (I've used forums before, I know the drill) and didn't find anything that really helped my cause. Went through a number of the help threads about re-installing the software, etc, ran through all the steps, but it's still not working.

Few night ago, my drunk self got very frustrated with my phone and it's battery. I couldn't get the battery out for whatever reason and I decided it would be a good idea to take a pocket knife and pry it out. It came out...but I also punctured a hole in it and the battery went up in smoke. The next day, I inspected the device to see if the battery fiasco damaged anything else, but it seemed fine. I tried my friend's battery (he has a 9800) and the device worked fine so I decided to skip the BS with AT&T and ordered a new battery via Amazon.

Battery came today and I put it in and threw (not literally, I'm babying this thing now) it in the charger and poof - red crossed out battery. I figured, whatever, things dead so I'll just let it sit. Few hours go by (it would have been completely charged already, but still red crossed out battery.

Decided then to do some Google searches, and found the tutorial on reloading the software via loader.exe. Ran through that, everything's going swimmingly, and then boom - application loader couldn't connect to the device, blah blah blah, reconnect and enter your password. Oops, can't do that because the phone won't turn on so I can't get into it anyhow.

Decided after that to go medieval on it. Downloaded jl_cmder, wiped the device, tried it again. Still cannot load the application, still nothing works.

I think I did everything: deleted vendor.xml, wiped the device, followed all the steps in the nuke tutorial and I'm at wits end. Really not trying to call AT&T and get it replaced via insurance (can't afford it right now) so can anyone help me out?

Sounds like there's still a problem with your new battery. Can you borrow your friends battery just to reload the os as you know that works in your phone?

Then if that does work, you can send the new battery back and get a replacement that works.

Or maybe your phone just won't charge the new battery cos it's nuked. You could try putting the new battery in your friends phone, letting it charge a bit then popping it in your phone and seeing if you can reload. Even if you can't, at least you can see if the problem is battery related or if it really is your phone.

Trying that now. Had a little spark of hope when his phone started to load and then crapped out immediately, so the battery is dead as a doornail.

Looks like you have a bad battery. Is it OEM or did you get a knock-off?

Alright, none of this is going to work. I read the Amazon reviews and the battery is not an authentic OEM. Due to some sort of "coding" that's in the battery that you have to switch over from the original to the new, I can't do that because the original battery is fried and there's no way of retrieving it. I know it's the battery, but now I have to get an OEM battery from Blackberry or AT&T, which is going to cost me an arm and a leg, and go through that. Sorry for the unnecessary thread. Requesting delete.

Wrong again. Old battery wasn't completely dead so I guess the battery coding went through because I put the new battery in and got the 507 error, which means there's some light in the tunnel.

Just get an oem battery, not a cheap knock-off that needs to be coded after every charge. It will save you in the long run in headache and in money.

The batteries are encoded, the one you received just needs to be "coded" so your BB thinks its an OEM battery. You should have received instructions with the battery. If not contact your seller. Should only have to do it once.
