Problem synchronizing my organizer data
Guys i wasnt getting my outlook calendar appointments on my blackberry so i tried synching my organizer and i get an unknown error everytime, any ideas what might be happening?
I have 342 update for OS 7.1, but updated almost immediately after i got the blackberry a few weeks ago, and just noticed this. - 04-13-2012, 11:26 AM #2
What data are you trying to sync? From your screenshot, there are no organizer areas that are being synced, i.e. you have to configure each one (Calendar, Contacts, Memos, Tasks) and then perform the sync.

Agreed with Andy957--screen shot shows no configuration--ie: BB to Outlook/Outlook to BB / back and forth.

PS: Andy957--where do I find Intellisync at? I'd like to know if that is what I'm using and what should I be using--though sync works fine and very fast on my DM. Go1ndr

It's an old (I think obsolete, but I could be wrong) 3rd-party program that I know I used to use when syncing my old Palm Pilot (yes, remember those!) to my Windows PC. I don't know if it's needed by DM.
READ THIS THREAD THOUGH, BEFORE DOING ANYTHING: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/...-quot/td-p/150Last edited by andy957; 04-13-2012 at 03:16 PM.

Damn! I do have it all over my C drive! Yep, used to have Palm Pilots, then Palm Treos (3), then Samsung Epix (two upgrades) and finally got smart and went to BB.
So if I delete everything that is Intellisync, what will happen and what should I expect? If I'm not having any issues with my syncing now, should I bother in your opinion. , I even have a Folder with entitled Intellisync!

****UPDATE: I found this: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/...-quot/td-p/150 that might shed some light on this problem, even though it's from 2008 when versions of DM, etc. were much earlier. Read it and see if it might help.

OK, posadajulian: do this:
----------------------------------------
I tried ALL the solutions on this post... And a few more from other posts reporting this same error. The only one that worked is the following:
1.- Uninstall Blackberry Desktop Software.
2.- Eliminate all the RIM folders left inside Program Files.
3.- Download again and reinstall.
Just synched my BB after a month of trying "solutions" that only made me waste my time. Please believe me: Do this first

Wow! Well, if it were me, the first thing I would do was trust in BB Protect! Check to see when the last back up was on BBProtect and then I'd do a complete wipe including security wipe. Then like mentioned above, I'd delete all Rim files or anything that could come back on in a reload. Then I would delete DM and all files attached to it. Next run CCleaner to dump registery file, etc. and Finally, I'd then reload from BB.com the newest DM and lastly, the OS you are using from your provider. After all that, if it doesn't reconize your phone--I have no idea what to tell you. I do know that once you do get it working, the first thing to do is customize before you back up and make sure that social media file is unchecked. Please keep us posted as others will no doubt run into this problem somewhere downt the road. Good Luck!

Hey guys, there is this thread (albeit from 2008) that might help before you do anything else. Be sure to read it carefully. I could very well have misled you above, hope not though.

I should also mention that I have DM 7 installed on my Win7 PC and there are no directories, subdirectories or folders on C: at all that even include the word Intellisync, so I don't think it's required for BB syncing.
^^ Please disregard. So sorry for so many posts. The reason search on Win7 didn't find the Intellisync directory is that it's a hidden folder in \app data\roaming\research in motion\blackberry\Intellisync.
I'd strongly recommend trying the steps in the BlackBerry Support Forum that I linked to above, it seems like it's a known problem (with a workaround) for quite some time!
Again, apologies for so many posts.Last edited by andy957; 04-13-2012 at 03:19 PM.

Re: Intellisync, I just looked through the files on my C
rive and nothing that is Intellisync related has a "Modified Date" past June, 2011, which would mean that the 9810/7.0 OS/current DM does not use it. Prior to that there were severa files with Rim/intellisync related ext(s) on them, so it must have used it in past DM's/OS's.
Since I don't have any issues with syncing I'm not going to delete yet but may move and rename to see what if anything happens down the road. I'm running W7/Outlook 2007/ BB 7.0 (261) currently. NO issues so I haven't upgraded yet
Thanks as always for you imput Andy!

I don't believe this has anything to do whatsoever with screwed up DM software or previous Intellisync version conflicts. I'm pretty sure your BB has a calendar entry on it that is confusing the sync conduit.
I wouldn't waste my time uninstalling and reinstalling software.
I had this exact thing happen to me for the first time last in 5 years week, here's what I deduced caused it, and how I fixed it. Prior to encountering this glitch, my BB(s) had been happily in sync with Outlook without ever a problem:
1) the cause: I had a recurring appointment on my calendar every 2nd Wednesday at 1:30-3:30. Last week some of the attendees couldn't make it, so we decided to cancel the meeting one time only. I did so in Outlook by opening the meeting notice and selecting "this occurrence only" (instead of the entire series), and deleting it, sending a cancellation notice. That was it for syncing - after that, the BB crashed every time when trying to sync. I gather that killing one occurrence only of a recurring meeting screwed up the sync conduit or the bb's database because nothing I did, including setting the sync to be 'one-way' where Outlook overwrites the BB's appointments would work anymore, it always crashed.
2) the fix: In desktop manager, with the BB connected, from the "Device" menu I selected "Delete Data" and waited for it to populate the databases. Then chose "Selected Data" and picked "Calendar" and "Calendar - All" (*only these 2 databases*). After that I tried syncing again (making sure to set it to one-way again for the first attempt so Outlook would overwrite the now blank BB database) and viola, everything is good again.
I'm now back to error free 2-way syncing.
Cheers

Thanks, Joe. It's true that recurring events in Outlook can wreak havoc with any device sync (I have a thread lower down in this board about calendar syncing problems with recurring full-day events). Hopefully your fix will work for OP.

OK Posadajulian, This is the only way I know how to do what you are looking for.
Click on the appointment in either Outlook or wherever you have the appointments scheduled on your PC, to open it up.
On Outlook, when you click on it, it will pop up a box that say's "open this Occurrence" Or "Open the Series". Click on "Open this Series".
Once it is open, you can delete it and it will ask you again if you want to delete this "Occurrence" or the entire "Series". Click on Series and it will be gone.
You can also do it on your phone. Highlight the appointment and touch the Red X to delete. It will ask you if you want to delete this occurrence or the whole series. You click on Series and it's gone. Good Luck.
One more time, here are the instructions again: Highlight the appointment and it will prompt you to open "Occurrence or Series"--open the "Occurrence", then-touch the Red X to delete and you will be prompted to delete series or occurrence. Click on Delete Series and it will.
If this doesn't work I give up as it works for me with out any issues. Good luck and I really hope it works for you.
