Phone fell in water
it shouldn't have been inserted the battery when there is water in the phone because it'll cause short circuit. the 1st thing should be done is remove the battery physically (do not do the shut down routine as short circuit occurs when any command is sent)
then put it in a dry place for few days (disassemble as much as you can speed up the drying process) to minimize the chance of having any moisture in the device. and try your luck after.
good luck.

You're possibly gonna need a new battery, if water has infiltrated it. Did the little tab on the battery turn red? If so, water can get in, as there are breathing holes underneath it, where water can seep in. The circuitry inside tends to fry, and without it, the phone won't operate. So consider that before you try restarting.

Phone fell in water
After removing the battery, put your phone in a sealed container, buried in rice - leave it for 2-3 days - the rice will absorb moisture out of the device.

Dry in the sense?? A room with the AC on or in a cupboard??
Cauz once I left my old chinsese phone near the AC at night and it got fixed the next morning - 12-26-2012, 02:08 PM #8

If you do the rice fix, the container will be sealed - so the AC will have no affect - in fact, common sense would suggest the warmer the location for the container the better. Also make sure to leave the back cover off of the phone.

rgshah - hard to tell until you have dried the phone.
You would be WELL ADVISED TO NOT USE OR TURN ON THE PHONE until you have dried it using the fix I posted - then, DO NOT put your soaked battery back in the device - purchase a new one or borrow a non-damaged one to see if your device survived.

What if it reboots on its own while wiping or installing?? It will be rendered useless.
I'll use a differnt battery and try using it to see if the battery is spoilt - 12-29-2012, 12:19 PM #19
Phone fell in water
You should have followed my suggestion of leaving it in the rice for at least 2 days - if it was still wet inside after only 1 day in rice, using the device may have caused a problem that otherwise might not have occurred - and possibly permanent damage.

Phone fell in water
May not have much luck. Check out my attempt here:
I gave up after rinsing parts in distilled water and 99% isopropanol. If phone was left on even for a few minutes after, there may have been shorts or corrosion which cannot be undone.
