    Default my torch, oh god

So as you know, i use my Playbook lots. I have owned almost every blackberry since the advent of the original pearl.

I have the torch 9810 and why is my web browser sucky! Whenever i click on a facebook picture or an article that takes me to an external site, a sense of dread overcomes me. I got an AT&T phone on the Rogers Network in Canada and i should be getting 4G speeds, it does say HSPA+ on the top right.

Why is it, everything is so slow! I can't even update more then 2 apps at once, or my phone is LAGGY AS !!

Now it goes without saving I am not jumping ship to another OS, i need blackberries for my work.

Does everyone else have the same experience? Is it just me? Any Advice? The only thing i do on my phone is use the News Apps and Thompson Reuters, Twitter and Facebook.

That's 4G. Obviously check your apps and memory situation to make sure its not too low.

I still have to reboot every few days to get back all the memory I've lost.

As you describe it, I do not have the same experience. Everyone once in a while, when I click on a Facebook post, it takes a while for the picture to come up. Otherwise my browser is pretty fast. If it is laggy, there can be a memory issue (run the BlackBerry Device Analyzer). On the OS I am running there is also the App Manager that will shut down an app that you may have left running in the background....but again, that is available memory issue.

Sometimes a faulty SD card has been known to give problems, or an app. But with you using the apps that you mention, it could be an issue with them and when and how often they are updating.

After reading my response...I feel like I just tried the scattergun approach to problem solving. I hope I managed to hit something that will work for you.

HSPA+ is the equivalent of 4G, at least that is how it is marketed in Canada. I don't have the same issues on Fido, but it is not to say that everything loads quickly either. I suspect that the data compression does slow things down a bit, but not sure how much.

If you are not on OS7.1, you might try upgrading to see if it helps.

I have the latest OS and always am on the lookout for new solutions. I just find the entire internet experience is super lacklustre and using app world to upgrade apps, results in my entire phone being unusable during the duration. I got an android tablet/phone and i could upgrade 30 apps at once, and wouldn't even know it.

I do not believe that HSPA+ is in fact the same as 4G. AT&T uses the HSPA+ but it is not LTE and not truly 4G. In a quote from a well-known Electronics (and other things) Blog/Magazine. Hope this helps!

    HSPA+:
This is one of the earliest "4G" technology and it's adopted by US carriers such as, T-mobile and AT&T. Although it was marketed as "4G" by these carriers, it's really an improved version of their existing HSPA 3G network. At 84Mbit/s download and 22Mbits/s upload, this technology is theoretically slowest amongst the "4G" networks. Strictly speaking this shouldn't even be called 4G by many recognized standards. But for those who are eyeing the recently announced iPhone 4S, this is the fastest standards it will support. Since AT&T is the only carrier to offer the standard, theoretically the AT&T iPhone 4S will be the fastest amongst the three carriers.

    WiMax:
A standard offered by Sprint in partnership with Clearwire here in the US, this is really the first 4G network deployed. Sprint's HTC Evo 4G is the first mobile phone to adopt this standard, making it the first 4G phone in the US. At the top theoretical speed of 128 Mbit/s download and 56 Mbit/s upload, making it faster than HSPA+. However, Sprint has recently announced the transition over to the LTE standard. From what we see, it seems that WiMax might be a dying standard here in the US.

LTE: This is the big three letter words in mobile technology. Verizon recently started their test run for this standard with AT&T following suit, even Sprint recently announced its transition to LTE. This as it appears would be the next standard of mobile network. The theoretical speed with the anticipated update, clocks in at 1 Gbits/s download and 100 Mbits/s upload, this is the fastest standard available stateside. However, since it is a relatively new standard, it still hasn't been widely deployed yet, so your experience may be more unstable.

    From "GottaBeMobile":
AT&T’s 4G LTE network is boasted as being 10 times faster than its 3G network and up to 3 times faster than its HSPA+ network. T-Mobile USA has one of the fastest HSPA+ network available and the carrier has announced plans to switch to LTE

They will shortly with the advent of BB10. But it is not a big loss as of this moment. Most networks still are in the process of implementing LTE and so coverage on that is limited at best. FauxG is what most phones are running (HSPA+) right now though there are a few LTE phones out there. But like I said, true 4g, though being implemented, isn't widespread yet, so you are not losing much.

Have you tried using Device Analyzer to find offending apps?
Try the Battery Tests for Battery draining too quickly. This will show you hour-by-hour what app is using how much CPU. There is a performance problems analyzer but it deals mostly with memory footprint; I don't find it all that useful.
    Options->Device->Advanced System Settings->BlackBerry Device Analyzer

You can also open Options->Device->Application Management, then swipe to the CPU tab to see which apps were eating your device performance now, today, this week, or last week.

+1 what newcollector said about SD cards, too. My phone was lagging a lot last week, and developed MP3 amnesia. I removed and reinserted the SD card and did a battery pull, and my phone came out of its funk.
