My 9810 does not support 4G ??
I am in an environment where 4g is enabled and I have my collegue who uses 9810 and they have 4G boldly writting on their network status but mine is always on 3G. Then I went to setting - About device version, then I discover that there was no 4g there, just 3G, Wifi. Does that means my 9810 is not 4G enabled? Please

No 9810 is 4g enabled. If your friends phone is displaying 4g then the network simply has H+ set up to display it, but it's not 4g.
No BlackBerry phones are 4g (LTE) capable. They run HSPA+ (H+) which is basically 3.75g. - 04-30-2012, 01:38 AM #3
do they use MTN also? is your phone from the carrier or purchased from somewhere else. mobile world live shows MTN has an active 900/1800 mhz network there, but doesnt state it has an active H+ backhaul. nothing on MTN's website even talks about H+/4G.
Airtel looks like the only H+ provider in Nigeria on 2100 Mhz. which is probably why you arent seeing H+.

Whether your phone shows H+ or 4G depends on the carrier and the build. Some 7.1 builds have 4G, but then others don't. Case in point on AT&T, 7.1.0.402 shows H+. The build I had before (.282) showed 4G.
If your phone shows 3g, then you are running the max that you can on your carrier. As others have said, the 9810 is not a true 4G (LTE) phone.Torch 9810, 7.1.0.861

regardless, the 9810 should be a H+ device and show it or 4G depending on the build. if his carrier supports it, it will reflect so. sounds like the phone physically isnt picking up that network which means one of two things. his phone for some reason doesnt have H+ capability or his carrier doesnt.

4G isn't even properly available in the US or even in the UK. The networks just programme your device to show 4G as a marketing gimmick to make customers buy.
