Unhappy Mobile Hotspot automatically turns off

My 9810 with leaked OS 7.1.0.258 is having some issues with Mobile Hotspot. When the leak first came out, it worked fine (at least the first week as i only used it like 3 times on the week of release). I have been trying this week and last week and it works fine for about 2 minutes, then it automatically shuts the mobile hotspot off.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Things to know:
    I am on AT&T.
I do not have a tethering plan.
I have tried restarting the phone (pulling battery).
I have tried changing the auto shut off feature to 1 hour, and to never (same results).

I appreciate any help and suggestions. I would get a tethering plan if i used it more than once every two months.

I have att & tethering plan. I have the earlier 7.1 and hot spot stays on. I suspect your problem is that you need to have the tethering plan.

But it is good to see that someone is using this latest, leak on att.

I definitely don't have a tethering plan, so that could be it. It is just strange that it worked at first and now it doesn't.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

You all DO know there is a difference between tethering and Hot Spot? And yes, you do need to have the service (Hot Spot) activated to use it. They make you go to 5GB plan for this so be prepared.

Yes, we know that Tethering and Mobile Hotspot are not the same thing. What I was trying to say was that without a tethering plan or hotspot service, I used to be able to use the Hotspot feature the first week of the release of the leaked OS 7.1.0.258, I used to be able to use Hotspot fine without issue.

I haven't tried it since and recently I went to try it and it connects and works fine for about 2 minutes before it turns itself off. I can always turn it back on, but keeps turning off after 2 minutes.

    Annyway, thanks for writing.

    Guys, here is the solution.
I was having the same problem. The reason mobile hotspot was turning itself off was the WiFi Manager (or other similar app that controls your phone's WiFi connection automatically).
So when you need to use mobile hotspot just disable WiFi manager or similar app.

What wifi manager app are you talking about? You can't turn off the Manage Connections UI screen and that is the only thing that manages the hotspot on my phone :-/
