My 9800 had a clacking when closed, got used to it. My 9810 also developed a slight clacking to it when closed, got used to it because on my 9800 it never got worse. I think its just the play in the sliding mechanism, some days it seems better then other, but has never gotten any worse then a couple millimeters of play. Rock solid when opened though and I mostly use the physical keyboard anyways.Cell Phone History:Motorola Bag phone > Motorola Star Tac gen1 > Motorola Star Tac gen 2 > Motorola Razr > BlackBerry Pearl(8110) > Iphone gen1 > BlackBerry Curve(8310 Red) > BlackBerry Torch(9800 Black) > BlackBerry Torch II(9810 Gunmetal Silver) > BlackBerry Bold 9900) > BlackBerry Z10(STL100-3 Black)

Mine is just a few millimetres, but either way it is noticeable when I am using the touch screen closed. When it's open, it's 99.9% solid. I'll just put it down to play in the slider. I really hope it doesn't get any worse.

Get the AGF GRT Ballistic case that uses its own gliding rails rather than the phone's. No more wobble or noise when using virtual keyboard. Remember to get the one for 9810, since it has a small cut-out on the back for the noise cancellation microphone (the 9800 case does not).
