Anyone try it yet? Any major differences?

At what point does this thread get added as a "sticky" post as most of the OS upgrades do at one point or another? Just curious and curious if anyone has downloaded this yet?
Thanks! - 02-28-2013, 06:29 PM #4
I handed my 9810 down to my mother when I got my Z10, but if she's willing to pass it over to me for a couple hours I'll upgrade it to .861 and see if anything significant has changed.

Decided to check it out and so far so good, I dont know if it's my use or what but for some reason the extreme heat that usually comes from using my phone has not been felt. It feels slightly warm. I see temps between 37 and 39. I have a feeling this will be a good OS esp for my phone that has an excessive heat issue. Cooler than .825 OS but warmer than .714 OS. Havent ran into any issues.

Upgraded my mom's 9810 to this OS yesterday, seems to be every bit as smooth as the last version was, but it does indeed run a little cooler.

This OS is a good base for a 9810 hybrid.

Strange: I downloaded .861, but it won´t install on my 9810. (Have .825)
Loader offers to remove device apps, but doesn´t show the usual system entries (character sets, typing aids etc.) I´ve seen in previous updates.
Loader finishes, stating that no modifications were made.
Puzzled.
Any ideas, anyone?BB Torch 9810 (7.1.0.861)

Might still be adapting, but it's feeling pretty awesome. Getting 4% ADR and temperature does seem lower (I don't keep track of temperature). I do keep track of memory and it is very stable, haven't noticed any significant leak. Moving around feels as fluid (slightly faster!) as when I changed from .714 (I guess) to .825 base.

Sure, sure. Z10 time is approaching (I hope) and I finally get a 7.1 release that doesn't seem to leak memory like a sieve with BeWeather installed. 66.5 hours of uptime and I'm at 138MB. Its actually gone up a couple of MB this morning. With previous versions of the OS, I'd be rebooting somewhere between 24 and 48 hours of uptime.

This is the first time that I had a problem with a download. It seems there is an incompatability issue with the download and a Windows XP computer. At least that was the error message I got. The new OS loaded, but all my apps etc. did not load back on. Thankfully I was able to reset everything through BB Desktop Manager and restored from a recent backup. Still, it was a little frightening. Has anyone else gotten a strange error message that if you continue it may cause a problem with your computer stability? I then got a fatal error message just as the AppLoader was about to reload everything. Phone seems to be running fine. I had a few moments of heart palpitations, but everything seems good to go for now.

Hey Newcollector--your heart will be fine and maybe it's time to upgrade that old Windows XP to at least a W7 program-lol! I can probably get a copy and send it to you
I personally always use the BBDM to restore my apps/stuff. One time after wiping it with BBSAK prior to an install, I had BBSAK back up and then tried to restore it back from BBSAK after the new install. It restored it alright, but in one large file that screwed everything up. I had to ask Mecca to help me get it right! The good news was that I had also backed up with DM prior to the install so I was able to restore it from there--thankfully! But, that said, for you to be frightened, frightens me buddy!
