Default Installing OS 7.1 for The Torch on a Mac

Does anyone have a Macbook Pro and know how to upgrade their blackberry OS to 7.1 using the Mac. I'm a torch user and I gave up on waiting on AT&T to release the OS update.

Adubk_I don't use a Mac but I know this has been on a lot of threads. I did some research and found this link. I'm not at all familar with Mac's but I believe I'd start here with a new BB DM download and go from there. Hope this works for you. Good Luck!

Yeah I wondered the same thing. I'm on a 13" Macbook 1 and as we Mac users know, Macs run .dmg files (disk image files) where Windows would normally run .exe. You download an .exe on a Mac and it does a whole WTF ?! thing. You can download desktop manager for Mac but I guess unless there is an actual update out, you can't get a leaked version because they are all .exe's. Anyone have any links to .dmg files we can use? Thanks

You cannot upgrade to any OS not from your carrier using OS X.

You will need to run Windows (via BootCamp, in a virtual machine, or borrow a PC).

Actually just found this link: it states you clearly cannot install a leaked OS on a Mac for the reasons I stated above:

Sorry. Hopefully something works out for you. I had an extra windows computer sitting around so I used this page for that.

Oops, sorry lak. I quick-posted and didn't realize you already had an answer posted. The link I provided will tell the OP how to install the OS on a Windows system, so I guess its still help

So what is the link I posted above for? ( BlackBerry - Desktop Software for Mac )
Again, I'm not a MAC user so I'm not familar with the workings of it. Just curious that's all and hoping to help someone on here.

There is a DM for mac's(allows for all the normal stuff DM does), the problem lies with the OS's being .exe's. Mac's cannot run exe files natively, bootcamp allows for windows to run on a mac.

    Got it! Thanks Homer!
Sorry to waste anyone's time with this download, but if you don't have it, at least now you can get it.

No biggie. It is worth having and can put the OP a step closer to getting his Blackberry along with the Mac. Not to install OS's rather, but at least backup.
