Maybe try an app like GPS Tools? On my old 9300 it was great to get GPS jump started when it just didnt want to.

I didnt have any issues with GPS on .267 and haven't had any on .284, so Im no help. Maybe try updating to the new .342?

I'm having the same issue - it is very frustrating. I read that 267 had issues with the GPS (as does 342)....suggestion was to replace the geolocation COD from build 205. There was no mention of whether 284 fixed the issue from 267 or not - was going to try that, but hoping to learn from someone who has this problem and fixed it.

I did my 267 update OTA from Bell - normally I update it from my desktop....not sure if people having issues are related to OTA installs?

Looking for help, suggestions and guidance!!!

Default GPS no longer works after update

    Me too!

Worked great before but not now. If GPS is important don't update and don't update the BB Bridge or Messenger either - that might have done it.

Mine only works when I'm in a wi-fi area. Not so great! I even been lost in an unknown area lately, that's how I found out it doesn't work any more! Way not cool! I didn't think I would need a stand alone gps. I have used my bb for over 2 yrs. I guess not any more.

I'm currently running .284(after 284 ATT users lost the hotspot capabilities) and have 0 GPS issues. Start up BB traffic and GPS finds me within seconds and stays locked. Recently went on vaca and used BB traffic alongside my garmin standalone, both worked flawlessly with my BB seeming to be a bit quicker on where turns and such were.

Count me in. On .267 from Bell. Ever since I updated, GPS has been a no-show.

No issues if I refresh location in options, and then load google maps or bb maps. If I don't refresh location, it'll take freakin forever. If not do what my old bold would do and tell me I'm far far away

The last three OS updates that are in my signature have worked flawlessly as far as gps goes. I would suggest you install any one of them and see if that fixes things. Like homer1475, I use BlackBerry Traffic and find it very accurate and quick. In fact, the voice directions are clearer than on my Tom Tom.

Install one of the leaks that I mentioned and see if the problem persists.

I just replaced a Torch 9810 (handset speaker failed) so I was able to pinpoint the upgrade to .267 as the cause of the GPS 'failure'.

Right out of the store, GPS discovered and held satellites and tracked my walking outside - with Network Assistance disabled. Continued to work 2 hours later, after being inside my office (had lost GPS acquisition while indoors) with any intervention or manual refresh.

upgraded to 7.1.0.267 (bundle 921) and same issue as with previous handset: will acquire GPS signal AFTER HARD RESET / BATTERY REMOVE and only if it can reacquire the signal immediately after restart. Will maintain GPS functionality until taken indoors - it will not reacquire GPS signals without a reboot, neither automatically nor manually.

I'm not interested in hacking a leaked install or fumbling with the fix myself; BB or my provider need to address and correct the problem.

You don't hack a leaked install...a leak OS update and an official OS update both come from RIM. There is only one difference between a leak and an official...a carrier (maybe not your carrier) is offering it to their subscribers.

Since you did not mention your carrier, you can easily install either a leak or an official from another carrier with no issues and take care of your gps problem. If you wait for your carrier (AT&T) to offer an upgrade, you may be waiting till the cows come home. It is not RIM's fault if the carrier will not offer any of the multiple upgrades that RIM has released. If you check my user signature, you will see that I (along with many others) have decided to be proactive and install OS upgrades. If you want help installing an OS upgrade, PM me and I will step you through it. The process is pretty straightforward and if I can master it, anyone can master it.
