Fate of OS 7?

With BB 10 on the horizon, what will now happen to OS 7?
Will RIM continue to provide updates for a while?

I sure think so. This new devices are six months away and the Bold 9930 and Torch 9810 are really awesome. Actually, all the OS7 devices to include the little Curve 9360 (with FM radio sans the data charge) are pretty awesome.
I think they left some room between the OS7 and the BB10 so they can continue to provide people like me that want a physical keyboard with a good option.
The Bold 9930 is a young phone and I expect refinements to continue coming for two or three years. Maybe more.
Actually, I also expect them to start moving like hot potatoes as BlackBerry fans sell theirs or do something to get the new BB10s. Best Buy currently has a sale for the Torch 9810 for FREE and if you call ATT you may even get them to waive the activation charge. You can also get a Bold 9900 with ATT for 99.00 bucks from Best Buy.
Hopefully, many people that love BlackBerry but are not early adopters will buy up all the OS7 devices they can get. Six months is a very long time in tech. So, for many of us this is a good opportunity.
So, to answer your question, as long as people buy them, RIM will make them and support them.

OS8 with small upgrades
possible that new keyboard and other features.
Even OS6 still getting updates.
Remember OS7 will still be selling internationally
for a few years.

Personally, I think I will be sticking with my 9810 until there is a slider BB10 device.

OS7 is smooth and fast, I am very happy with it and RIM has said several times they will continue to support it. They have it, it's still going to be their number one OS outside North America and Europe for some time.

glad to see I am not the only one that is hoping for OS7 support.

BB10 is going to be a drastic change I think and for some it wont be a good change. OS7 is a amazing software that with hope will be around for a while. I hope they continue to throw out updates for the little bugs here and there.
