Default End of the line for my BB Torch

Despite my efforts to make the Torch work for me, it has fallen out of favor at my workplace. The biggest issue has been the radio turning off. Sometimes the charger will not charge the phone at night and the radio will shut off, then when I unplug and replug the cord a couple of times it charges but the radio stays off. The radio also turns its self off in my pocket sometimes. This causes me to constantly miss calls even though the phone is on and fully charged. In addition to this the phone randomly turns on all sorts of things in my pocket like the music player or the web browser causing distractions at inopportune times and or a complete drain of my battery. Admittedly some of these things are my error and are no fault of the phone, but design and has played its fair share.

Less importantly the app situation is also pretty grim. Blackberry already has a reputation for poor app support but it is worse with the torch as most applications do not fit the screen size. In the past few months some apps that I was really looking forward to having on the torch were made available only for the 9900.

It's a shame. From a functional standpoint I really like it. Input is fantastic, apps are quick and responsive, web browsing is 10x faster than iPhone, the LED makes keeping up with alerts easy, and customization in general is really refreshing. It's too bad that Blackberry couldn't pull it together tight enough to make it a logical business phone. The problems were so bad that I was pressured into selling it by my boss. This is the first time I have ever had to buy a phone off contract. At least my workplace offered to cover the difference.

Could have tried an OS upgrade to see IF it might sort out the constant signal loss. What network was it on. Maybe it was some MANAGE CONNECTIONS setting that simply needed to be tweaked..... I dunno

Seems to me you may have a bunky device and should return it....Ive had the 9810 since the end of October and I havent had a single issue with it whatsoever; theres also alot more folks here that have not had any issues either. That sucks that its been so rough and has got ya downhearted.

seems an upgrade to 7.1 (available on this forum) would solve a big chunk of your problems as they're likely due to the phone being unlocked in your pocket. 7.1 has an option to lock the phone when the slider closes. This would avoid a lot of the "pocket activity" going on. Not sure what to say about the charging - it sounds like you have a bad charging cable or something's wrong with your micro-usb port.

I've had screen freezes, but never a charging issue.

the unplug to get it to charge was a glitch in one of the 7.1 leaks. i think .190 was the one but i cant be sure.

Sounds to me like a case of some sort, with a combination of one of the various lock apps, or an OEM pouch would solve 90% of your issues. As far as your battery issues, no idea since my 9810 hasn't had this issue with any build of 7.0 or 7.1 to date.

Looking back on your post history, I also see you had numerous crashes with loss of data. That should have been your first clue as to having a "bad apple" and should have gotten it replaced immediately.

I actually replaced the phone I was discussing before. They confirmed the errors and immediately gave me a new one. If no one else had any of the problems I listed, then I got unlucky twice. That, or I did something to the phone that somehow escaped my attention.
