Can't synchronize e-mail
Hi,
I am new in the BB world and I have problen synchronizing e-mails from my laptop to my BB Torch 9810. I use Outlook 2010 x64 with Window 7. BB Desktop Software is Version 7.1 Bundle 921.
I do receive e-mails on my BB. However, when I read or delete an e-mail on my device, it doesn't show as read or deleted on my laptop. The synchonisation of my contacts, calendar, notes and tasks works when I synchronize through the BB Desktop software but not wireless.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thanks - 04-24-2012, 09:46 AM #2
It depends on which provider you use for email. If you use Gmail with wireless syncronization turned on in email settings, it should sync. If you use another provider, some will sync wirelessly (Yahoo, hotmail, aol, exchange) but in any case, none sill sync through desktop manager.

Superman: since you state that you use Outlook, your syncing should be painless. Outlook and DM (BB) sync flawlessly in most cases. One thing, (and I may be reading into this) you mention, is if you delete an email, you can't see it on your PC or Laptop. This is most likely because in your email set up, you do not have the "Leave message on Server" box checked. If it is not checked, it will delete the message on the server when you delete it on your phone or handheld device. Go into your email setup options and makes sure that box is checked and this should take care of this issue.
Also, if you are syncing calendar (which you most likley are with outlook) make sure to go into your calendar options and change the "Keep Appointment" box and set it to "Forever", other wise it will delete appointments after 90 days (default)--unless of course you want to delete appointments. You can also select the calendar you want to use like Outlook (determined by your email address) or google/FB, etc. I only use outlook in mine. Hope this helps and is what you are looking for. If not, please let us know and someone on here will help you for sure. Good Luck!

Still unable to sync e-mail and calendar
go1ndr: Thanks for you help
I will try to be clear so you don't have to read between the lines...
I have two problems (they may or may not be related...):
1) I do receive the same e-mails on my device and on my laptop. However, when I reply or delete e-mails from my device, I thought BB could sync this with Outlook so I have a trace of sent e-mails in my Outlook sent items and of deleted e-mails in my deleted items. That does not happen.
My wireless synchronization is On in the e-mail setting of my BB and the "Leave message on Server" box is checked on the server.
2) The synchonisation of my contacts, calendar, notes and tasks works with Outlook when I synchronize them through the BB Desktop software. However it does not work wireless. Not very convenient to have to plug in the BB to have my calendar updated.
I am starting to think it is an issue with my BB Service Account. I found the Virgin Mobile Blackberry Service account Website. https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html
When I type in my user name and password, it tells me my PW is wrong. So I clicked on Forgot my Password and they sent on my BB an e-mail saying I have asked to get my password and "Here is the PW: " The space for the PW is BLANK!
I am ready to lose it on those guys. And needless to say that I have tried to call Virgin and they thell me to call RIM. I might try RIM again tomorrow.
Any idea what what I should try next?
Thanks for your help.

dm does not sync emails with outlook. period. No matter what you do, you will not be able to do this. wireless sync will synchronize with web-based email, such as gmail or yahoo.
DM will only sync organizer data: contacts, calendar, tasks and memos. depending on your particular setup, it could also sync pictures and music. no email. - 05-01-2012, 03:01 PM #6
Hey SuperMan, I think that sjsplaty is correct with his comments regarding the syncing of emails. The system doesn’t really “sync” (reconcile in BB terms) emails, as the emails should come into/onto all of your devices at the same time(or close to the same time) via your server. This may not apply to BBS (Blackberry service push email) or Outlook Exchange servers, but for pop3 email setups like yours (and mine), once you have the email on your handheld or computer(s) if you have the box checked that says “leave on server” on your devices, regardless of where you delete the message, it should still be on the other devices—unless you select “delete on mailbox and handheld” on your BB device. Then it’s gone from everywhere.
Any email you send on your BB will still be there (on your BB with a (√) checkmark next to it, unless you delete it on your device, and the same goes for your computers/laptops. Sometimes I will delete something on my handheld that comes in, like for example-breaking news and I don’t want to look at the full story on my handheld, so I delete it from my handheld only, but it remains on my computer/laptops. If on the other hand it is an email that I read quickly and don’t need to keep, I will delete it using the command: Delete on Mailbox and Handheld, and it will be gone everywhere. Likewise, if the “leave on server” box is not checked, it will delete it automatically everywhere when you delete from your hand held.
All other outlook functions sync: ie. Calendar, Contacts, tasks, etc. as you said, work great with DM. One thing, if I didn’t mention it and you may know this already, make sure on Calendar options, to mark “leave forever’ otherwise it will dump all the calendar on both handheld and computer (outlook) at 90 days (default) or other day options. Very important if you use your calendar for business! I found out the hard way!!
Lastly, I have never synced wirelessly and I’m sure it works fine but I prefer to sync via USB as “wires” are always better if available so I am no help there. I sync daily and back up daily as well. I hope you can get some straight answers from your mobile service and it works for you. Good luck and keep us posted. - 05-02-2012, 03:47 AM #7
Can't synchronize e-mail
Superman, it sounds to me like you are dealing with an Exchange server for your email. If so, and if you have the option, you can create an OWA (outlook web access) connection on your blackberry and get a two way sync of your email status (read, deleted, sent). You can find more information about how to set it up here http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/b...ListHelperImpl
As for the PIM info, i believe tjat you will need at least a connection to BESx, BES (corporate bb email), or utilize a third party software for ActiveSync support like Notify and Astrasync
Hope this helps!!
