Default Calendar sync with Outlook makes all repeating events last 2 days

I am syncing my Outlook 2010 calendar with my Torch 9810 (running 7.1 but this was an issue with 7.0 as well). I have many recurring events (some yearly like birthdays, some every 3 days, etc.) that appear fine in OLK but when I sync to the BB, all events span 2 days. So if a birthday is on a Monday, after a sync it appears on my Torch as lasting 2 days, all day Monday and all day Tuesday. I have deleted all calendar events from the Torch using DM (7.0.0.43) and then re-synced (from Outlook to device one-way only initially) and when I check the Torch, they're all listed this way.

Also, have made sure there are no more [CICAL] entries for Gmail, as that was also causing problems, and in Calendar options, the only calendar listed is my default Outlook one.

Has anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a fix?

    Thanks.

Hi again Andy957! I had this happen as well on my 9800 but not on my 9810. One similar issue I had was that it was putting in duplicate appointments but figured out it was due to FB posting it's calendar as well. Once I deleted the FB calendar and only had Outlook on there(like you), that problem went away.

I did notice that it has posted two-day events on a couple of my business trip days when there should only have been one day. I opened up the event and changed the dates on the calendar in Outlook to show correct date as opposed to dates and it went back to normal when I synced. Maybe you could do that until someone posts the fix. Good luck. I see you are an 'oldtimer" (since 2009) so you know where to look for these fixes. I would just type it in search and see what comes up. BTW, Thanks for the "thanks" on the other posts. Much appreciated! Go1ndr

Thanks. Which version of DM and OS7 are you using? Just curious.

I think I will go back to using Google sync for my Gmail calendar, as this issue does not exist via this method. For some reason, Gmail contact sync is a total nightmare (puts all address info in one field instead of separating address/city/state(province)/zip etc). Apparently that's a known issue but it's a dealbreaker for me, so although I'm trying to stay away from Outlook and use the cloud only, I'll have to stay with Outlook for contacts and Gmail for calendar.

Thanks, again! Have a great night.

Just answered you on the other post re: iTunes and your music.
I'm using the original 7.0.261 (1355 bundle). Since I've had no (zero) issues with battery drain, trackpad, etc, and nearly everyone of the leaks or Offical upgrades has issues, I figured this time instead of always wanting the "newest and the bestest", I'd chill and wait for the bugs to get worked out of a lot of them. I'm on AT&T in So CA and they haven't released an upgrade yet, other than the .583 upgrade--which has issues. My wife upgraded her 9810 to the .583 (2404 bundle) and had to screw with it forever to get it to work right. She still has issues with the battery drain and trackpad/touchscreen. So I'm going to wait this time. I know that Mecca El on here has some great leaks but I just haven't tried them. What are you running on?

Lastely, I only use Outlook as I own a business and run it on W7/Outlook so I need to have all emails come in on all devices. Works better for me. I do have a Gmail account and actually had it on both of my last two BB's but took it off recently as it was doing the same thing with the calendar events.

Have a great evening. Go1ndr (Jack)

    Jack,

Bell released an official upgrade to 7.1 a couple of weeks ago for the 9810 and 9900 (but not the 9380, curious enough). So I'm running 7.1.0.267. I am like you, lately I've been wary of upgrading to a leaked version, but I have to say that 7.1 is much faster for me (or so it seems) than 7.0 was. I have also used the WiFi hotspot once already, although I don't anticipate needing to do that often, as there is WiFi almost everywhere nowadays.

Funny re: W7/Outlook. An executive "edict" was issued a few months back that the entire company can no longer use BlackBerrys - we were required to switch to an iPhone or Android device. I complained bitterly, and was able to convince them that I'm keeping my 9790. I think I might be the only one in the organization still using one.

However, that said, we also moved from Exchange to Gmail (cloud) for everything. Now I'm having duplicate calendar events on my phone from Gmail, whereas contacts are syncing ok. Worked fine with Exchange. Go figure. Sometimes newer doesn't mean better, eh?

I'm a cell phone junkie, as you can probably tell from my profile on the top left. I work in the software industry and need to have all the latest and greatest (for myself, not for work), as I'm fascinated by it all. So, I also use an iPhone and Android device, as well as owning a tablet on all platforms (even including an HP Touchpad, which is my 2nd favorite of them all after my PlayBook).

Thanks for all your help. I hope others reading these threads will benefit like I did from your knowledge!

Hey Jack, unrelated to this thread but out of curiosity, is the backlighting on your T, Y, G, H keys dimmer than the rest? It's that little block on the keypad that just doesn't look bright. I'm used to the brilliant white of the 9780 keyboard when backlit.

You are way too kind! I hope we catch up on other posts as well. Great people on here for the most part and I love being able to help anyone that I can, though I'm probably one of the least experienced, but just like you, can't get enough of it! Odd for someone that is actually in the insurance business-LOL! Have a great evening. Jack
