Angry Blackberry 9810 no sound in call help!

    Hello,

I have had my BB 9810 from ATT for quite some time now but for the past few months when trying to make a call i can not hear anything from the ear piece (no headphones in or anything). Putting on speakerphone i can hear what everyone is saying but once i turn it off again I can not hear a thing. I figured I dropped it and broke it but however everytime I update the phone it works perfectly for a day or two then drops back to what it has been doing meaning its a software glitch? I am completely dumbfounded as what to do next, I updated it to 7.1 and it worked for about a day or so until dropping sound again. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced. Any help would be EXTREMELY helpful; Thank you!!

You've checked to be sure bluetooth wasn't accidentally turned on?

I got a brand new 9810 and its havin the same problem. Out of the blues, it jus stops ringing or vibrating and all sounds disappear. No notifications or sound in calls, I can't hear them and they can't hear me. A battery pull solves it for some time. I changed the os to the latest but it didn't help. Any solutions. Phone is new, never been dropped. BT and wifi off. Latest OS installed. Tried the leaked os also but no luck. And this is the second 9810, I had to return the first. A friend of mine reported the same problem in his 9900 also

Do you have your phone in an otterbox case? They have been known to push on the mute button and sometimes causes a problem. IF you have any case on your phone, go naked (the phone, not you) for a while and see if the problem persists.

Or if you are on AT&T and have OS 7.1.0.402 or .428 then this is a known issue for some users in some regions (certainly not all). If so, you'll have to downgrade to OS 7.1.0.391.

9810's had some early issues with your cheek or face, even hair muting the phone but haven't seen that in a long time. Cases can certainly cause some issues as they are tight and cause pressure on the internal connections--still there are too many threads/posts about the .4xx builds and mic issues like you guys are having to not suspect it to be the build. As Tsells suggests, I'd certainly do a downgrade (lateral grade) to either .378 or .391--both seem to have no issues with mics, etc and run smoothly.
