Any current rumors as to when if ever AT&T will post update to 7.1?
Any one hear any talk about when AT&T will (if ever), put out the upgrade to their "official" branded 7.1 OS ? Still holding off for their official upgrade so if something is wrong with it, I can take it to the service center and about it-lol.
Thanks!

Hi Deebo550, is it a leaked version or did you download it from AT&T and if so, where did you get it. When I try to find it, their site doesn't list it. Thanks!

Hey Go1ndr, this is what you're going to look like when AT&T finally releases an official 7.1
:

Just go for it, .342 and .402 are both really good. I'm currently on .402 with no problems whatsoever. (There were some users that had mic problems on .402 but I have not experienced any problems at all. Battery life is pretty good too.) .342 is also a good OS, but I did have some minor reception problems with it.Last edited by tsells; 04-30-2012 at 06:24 PM.

Hey tsells, Great photo-lol. Got to love the beard! Where are you located at? I'm in So CA and AT&T here is the worst for getting anything out to users, that may help, but they do have a class-act service center here. Mecca El has been trying to get me to upgrade for months but I've held off as I use my phone for busines and I can't afford to have it be down with bugs and need fixes I can't get. Heck, I'm still on the old 7.0.261 because I have zero issues with it! That said, I love the 'latest and greates' and this is the most patience I've even had
Which .402 did you download and did you use BBSAK or similar app to backup your application, etc.
- 04-30-2012, 06:51 PM #6
Downloaded from here:
Index of /bb/OSs/9810
I did not use BBSAK. I always use apploader.exe and it does all the work for you. No need to wipe. I first backed up my phone using DM, and backed up all my app's settings (where applicable) on my SD card.
I too use my phone for business and I like to load an OS on Saturday morning (just in case there's a problem) so I have time to fix it all up by Monday. (But I've never had an issue.) - 04-30-2012, 07:05 PM

Thanks! May give in and do it!I know kind of how to do it, ie: the vendor files, etc. but I've always use the DM to upgrade in the past with AT&T's upgrades--on both the 9800 and now of course the 9810. I have it backed on BB Protect as well as DM but would do a full back up on DM and then go from ther--oh yeah-where do I go from there--LOL. I thought that I could just go to software versions on the DM and download from there as it show up once downloaded--never used apploader before and not sure how. Thanks!

Apploader is easy! After backing up everything and deleting the vendor file (or files) you go to Apploader.exe (located in the same place as the vendor file). With your phone plugged into your computer just start Apploader.exe and follow the prompts. Let it do its thing and 20 minutes later you'll be ready to go.

OK, will probably try it this weekend. Have a family emerency so it may depend on outcome of that, but I can't take the peer pressure from my CrackBerry friends anymore--I GOT TO HAVE IT! I'll keep you posted as to how it works out

PS: can't I just pull my media card out rather than backing it up--actually have a folder on my PC with a copy of it in there. - 04-30-2012, 07:30 PM #10

I was one of those with the dead mic problem. Fun part was I was 6 hours from home when I discovered the problem. Plus side, it was a Saturday, so I didn't miss any business calls. Downgraded back to .342, problem solved.
What I'm saying is to try .402 when you are close enough to your comp just in case you have a problem. If you have outgoing voice, great! If not, no big deal, go below for other builds, and Elite1's guide.

It seems that people who loaded it with AppLoader did not experience the problems. did you use apploader or DM?

Hey tsells, I noticed in the download directory you listed above, the one .342 is only 49 MBs. Why so much smaller? Is it a good download. Also noticed the mod date on it was two weeks later which indicates some fixes.
Thanks! - 05-01-2012, 03:52 PM

.342 is in the first post here:
Leaked OS 7.1.0.342 for the Torch 9810
Also check out the 9th post in that thread, which has some very detailed info on how to load the OS. (I do not do step 7 or 9) - 05-01-2012, 04:41 PM #18
Your apps will all be in your account at AppWorld or they will be in your Mobihand account. If for some reason they are missing from your device when you load the OS, you can just log into your account and re-load them. (But I have never had to do this.)
Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I do not see a reason to back-up your apps. It's real important to back-up your app's settings, but not the actual apps. - 05-01-2012, 05:03 PM

App settings are backed up automaticall when you do a full back up with DM I believe. I also have BB Protect that back automatically everyday as well. Lastly, I have BBSAK that I know for sure does a complete back up, but I've never used it to restore. I only back so many places b/c of business info that I can't afford to lose. You are correct about the AppWorld and Mobihand accounts. If set up correctly, all the apps (not settings) will be under "uninstalled". It's a pain to reload but not a biggie and in most cases, you find that you don't really use all the apps you have-LOL! Thanks for the info once again!
- 05-01-2012, 05:33 PM #20
This is not correct. A few apps do this, but many apps will require you to back-up and restore settings. For example, all Bellshare apps (BeWeather, BeBuzz, etc) have a back-up and restore option. You do a back-up to your SD card before you load the OS and then you do a restore after the new OS is loaded. If you don't do this you will have to set up all of your app settings from scratch!
And you should also make note of all of your app purchase codes, because you will have to re-enter them after loading the new OS.Last edited by tsells; 05-01-2012 at 05:38 PM.

Really!? when my wife upgraded to the 7.0.583 version (2404 bundle), (I upgraded for her) I never backed up her app settings to her smart card or anywhere else. I did it through BB DM and it asked if I wanted to restore back up and restore the 3rd party apps and I checked "yes" and it did it. Same when I went from 6.0 on my 9800 to my 9810/7.1. I hooked the phone up and it automatically picked up the new OS, and I used the "switch device" prompt to back up and restore. It also loaded all my 3rd party apps that worked and the others went to "uninstalled" in App world (where they still remain-lol), so this is news to me. So do I just go to each application and the options on it--and then back up from there. Also, isn't that what BBSAK does? Lost here buddy, and I thought I knew this stuff-

First, you have to determine if you have any apps that have a backup/restore option (not all do). What you are backing up are the settings (not the app itself). For example, there are lots of settings in BeWeather (locations, custom radars, etc). If you do not backup your settings for this app to the SD Card then when you re-load a new OS you will have the app, but it will NOT have your old settings. So when you open the app after reloading a new OS you just go to options and then go to restore (within BeWeather) and your settings will all be back.
This is the ONLY way to keep your old settings for all Bellshare apps, ShaoSoft apps, ToySoft apps, and NikkiSoft apps!Last edited by tsells; 05-01-2012 at 06:52 PM.

Got it! Thanks! I'll check them out and back up prior to doing this. You know, I really do know a lot about the phones, applications, etc, but when it comes to OS's, I'm such a WUSS! LOL
BTW, that download was disabled due to copywrite infringements!! Duh! Have to look for others as there are many out there, like the Norway one.
Thanks a ton for your help tsells! I'll keep you and the others posted on what happens and if I can do it this weekend.
