9810 Battery Question
I'm using SmartBeBattery to monitor the battery life on my new 9810. It seems that the battery drains VERY quickly, especially when compared to my old 9780. Is anyone else out there having the same experience?

I have no experience with a 9780, but considering you are running a larger screen and other features, you will have more battery drain than on a non-touch device. I have 7.1 installed and by using the native feature, BlackBerry Device Analyzer, my battery is draining at 3.89% per hour. That is with surfing, with texting, and just using the device in general with bluetooth and wifi on as well as network.
I am going to run this test for 8 hours (work time) and then do this again tomorrow only with bluetooth disabled. I'm just interested in seeing what difference, if any, there will be.
I can get through a full day (8:30am - 11:30) with plenty of battery to spare, but of course results vary depending on usage, signal strength etc.Torch 9810, 7.1.0.861

Thanks. That was very informative. I find that it drains (while just sitting) at about 5-6% an hour. I'm looking forward to 7.1, as T-Mo hasn't released it yet.

JoeJetsFan, go to the "Leaked/Beta" forum, and download the leaked 7.1 to get the Device Analyzer that Mecca is talking about. Look around for Elite1's instructions, they made my first time a snap. Here's the Leaked forum for the 9810.

*EDIT*: Get rid of the battery app you are running, those things use more power than they're worth.Last edited by AugustArborists; 01-31-2012 at 07:03 PM. Reason: stuff

Apps that moniter things in the background such as The Score and Battery Moniter will use alot of you battery. My battery last around 14 hours, with a bridge connection for about 2 hours a day and alot of other uses.
Try not to connect the bridge unless you need it. If you are disconnected, you only have to press the bridge app you want for the pb to pretty much instantly connect to the bb and open up the program. In fact tbh, its hardly slower than opening a native app.
Also, if your bridge when your out and about, leave the wifi on your bb off. Another big battery drainer. - 02-13-2012, 01:54 PM #9
I'm not sure what do with the information from the Device Analyzer, either. It confirmed what I knew, which is that my phone drains 5-6%/hour most of the time but then randomly will plunge 30-40% in an hour (frequently when I'm not using it, it happened last night while I was sleeping). None of the apps listed is ever over 1%, so I'm not sure what the point of all this is as a diagnostic tool.

You have selected both of those times in the graph (by touching the hours and then hitting the details,) and it hasnt shown you any difference? I find that a little hard to believe, it should show something if the battery is being drained. If you look at the overall view it may not show because its showing an overall drain rate, but hourly should indicate something. Are you charting your memory usage too?
