9810 is awesome!
No I didn't learn it just today. Yes this sub forum is depressing with so many complaints. Yes I know those complaints are real for those posters and they should be there. But no I've gotten none of them with mine 9810. So i am posting this just to even out the odds a little bit.
9810 is not that bad. - 03-05-2012, 06:38 AM #2
I think most of us who have the 9810 would agree with you. It is a great device and most of us do not have any real issues with it. Occasionally someone has received a bad phone, and sometimes an app causes a problem and every once in a while there is actually operator error, but for the most part, the 9810 is a great phone. Personally, the "Be Bold" campaign lacks needed love for the 9810. RIM needs a "Light the Torch" campaign. Show people using their Torch to positively impact the people around them.

Not really depressing. Think about the nature of a forum like this. We normally post if we have an issue that we want help with. If things are going well, we tend not to post much. So, a lot of the starter posts are from the minority who have problems. Example: most users of OS 7.1.0.258 aren't having any issues and get great battery life. I've seen threads about touchscreen issues. And a fair sized portion of the main thread for that leak is several of us who have battery issues and those trying to help us improve that.
When you see very negative posts, sometimes it's out of a misguided expectations that every manufacturer "owes them" a perfect product every time. But, more often, it's out of frustration that they want to enjoy the product and can't seem to fix a problem, no matter what they try. By the time they post looking for a solution, they've searched and not found an answer, or they've been unsuccessful with what they did try, or the terms they used didn't get the right answers. So, they're frustrated, tired, and angry by the time they get here.
Having said that, I know nothing made by man is perfect. But my 9810 is pretty close.
Mostly it does what I need in the way I need it done.

I am still extremely happy with the 9810 a week later...
Everything is better/improved over my 9700... Only minor bugs I found is my 9810 sometimes loses autofocus during video and the calendar sometimes lags/hesitates switching from agenda to month views... But I would not trade my 9810 for any other BlackBerry...

I just picked up a white 9810 on Saturday and am really enjoying it so far! My last BB (9700) had OS5 so I'm seeing great improvements in OS7.
My iPhone 4s is currently in a UPS box and ready to be mailed out to its buyer!
So glad to be back to BB and reliability again!
It was a long 5 months!

A lot of the people that don't have problems with the 9810 don't really post here... There isn't that much activity in the 9810 forum.

I have had mine now for a couple of weeks. I am over all, happy with it. My brother just got an iphone and was having trouble setting up his email. So he wanted to see if I could do it. I finally go it set up, but man I could not wait to get my BlackBerry back in my hand. I missed it. I am glad I chose the 9810 over any other blackberry. Although, every once and awhile when I open something I get the little clock or hourglass for a quick second. I havent upgraded yet to 7.1. Thought Telus may release it soon as it said coming soon on there website. IF they dont soon, I will do it my self. But overall, I love my phone. I hate to even install an app. When I am carrying it, I am so carefull not to drop it. I think I am am crazy.

Actually, while yes there are a few issues in the 9810 threads it is nothing, nothing like the 9900 threads. Of course the adoption rate of the 9900 has been greater but heck, the 9810 didn't suffer the battery issues found with the JM-1 battery of the 9900 and we can be happy we have a great camera vs (imho) the 9900. Also, complaints in general have lessened greatly with the advent of 7.1.
Actually, the 9810 threads are pretty quiet these days, have to go to the 9900 thread to see what's brewing and that is probably a good indicator this is a pretty dependable and stable phone. - 03-07-2012, 01:58 AM #20
Hi
I had a question about the 9810 keyboard. I currently have a Bold 9930 and I am lovingthe keyboard. How isthe keyboard on this device? Is it as bigas the Bold or isit more like the Curve or Tour? I am tempted to move to the 9810 because the screen on my 9930 is too small and the 9860 does not seem to appealing. Any feedback greatly appreciated - 03-07-2012, 02:57 AM #21
Keyboard is definately better than curve. Best is to try the keyboard @ the store. You get the feel whats the difference.

I was a little concerned about the KB too but so far it's fine. Of course, I was coming back to BB from an iPhone 4s so ANY KB thrilled me! LOL!
I had a 9700 before the iPhone and got used to that KB, so I think you'd adjust to the 9810 unless you have very large hands. Go to the store and try it out! - 03-07-2012, 10:49 AM #25
I never found any big difference in kb of 97XX and 98XX. My earlier device was 8520 and 9810 is a big leap for me. This phone is just amazing. This is the best BB IMHO.
