I purchased my phone on ebay, if it was on a store i would like to change to a new one. I guess there's millions of phones being changed to new ones in stores.
So the solution should be coming soon ( I HOPE )

The device as a whole? No. Simply because not everyone has the problem. I use my 9810 every day and don't have any touchscreen problems. That also means I can't try and isolate the problem and most are probably just returning the device, which doesn't change anything. Also there are a lot less 9810 users in general compared to other devices so there's even less information to be found.

    Hey papped,

Point well taken. Then the question becomes what makes your device different from mine?

Let me ask you something, since yours works ok, do you have any case for your device or a screen protector of any kind on it? Trying to isolate problem ... may not be sw glitch but may be something outside the normal build of the phone ... does not hurt to ask ...

Also, another dumb question, have you used your phone in a low lit room over a longer period of time? Reason I ask is I am starting to notice a pattern between how much the phone acts up and the amount of light around it. I know it seems strange but thought I would put it out there ...

    thanks ...

    Yeah I have both.

I know there is a known issue with many cases where it can partially press down the lock/mute buttons and cause the screen not to respond. But i would hope that nobody with that particular problem is reporting that here... You simply remove the case and the device works.

I wish it was an easy as a case problem. My problem is not so much with screen freezing then erratic screen behavior where the device just starts scrolling all over the place. This makes data input via virtual keyboard or selecting icons almost impossible ... just starts moving around on it's own.

sgpika, I tried running it on all different OS versions. I currently have it on 261 as I read somewhere here that it was the most stable ... but not for me.

The funny thing is that it does work ok for a while after a battery pull then it starts going all crazy again (same result on different OS versions).

Man, just wish there was some simple answer to this ...

I had issues with 7.1.0.258 so went back to 7.0.0.583 for awhile. Now I'm on 7.1.0.284, and so far so good. .258 was locking my phone up so bad I had to do some battery pulls, especially after using hands free in the car. Crossing my fingers on this one, it's been a few days with no issues!

The touchscreen issues all started after Os 7.0.0.439 so anything that changed after that Os in regards to the touch screen coding must be tha issue, but we all know its not that simple.

I upgraded to OS 7.1.0.267 and had the same touch screen issues. I used BBsak and wiped my phone entirely then reinstalled OS 7.1 and left as is without restoring any previous data it still gave me the same issues. I did the battery pull several times. I love the wikitude app and the wifi hotspot but with the touch screen not working it drives me crazy and not worth it. I ended up going back to OS 7.0.0.261 and it works flawless now. I'm just going to keep an eye for a leak to fix the issue, soon hopefully.

Ya'll need to try running in safe mode. Sounds like an app issue and not an OS issue to me.

So wouldn't .261 be affected too if it was an app issue, because we've all rolled back to .261 and it works great

Not necessarily. First off, I think you're talking 7.0 vs 7.1. Second, if I'm understanding you right, it's every OS beyond a certain number.

Switching to safe mode and finding out takes less time than it took you to write that post.

From my experience (and we're talking 25+ years of *NIX systems administration and owning one of these problematic 9810s), for those that have the touchscreen issues on their AT&T 9810, only the following OSes do not exhibit the issue:

    7.0.0.261
    7.0.0.353
    7.0.0.583

All the 7.1.x.xxx leaks will exhibit the issue at some point.

Regardless of what apps are installed, yadda yadda, rolling back to one of the three 7.0 OSes above will "cure" the touchscreen. With or without wiping. Completely repeatable.

YMMV if you're on another carrier with this issue, but from what I've heard by PM is that these three releases will fix it for others.

I agree, wiping generally solves absolutely nothing.

I disagree it's an OS problem, though there's a minimal chance it is. The issue seems to only affect a few people, and there is at least one official 7.1 released.

I don't own 9810 but you guys can try this since it's no harm, try disable storage compression: click options> device> storage> disable compression (uncheck enable compression) than reboot your phone, I hope it helps to reduce the lag and unresponsive touch screen.

If you can recall the 9780 key stutter issue you would know that only some 9780 users were experiencing the problem and after ONE os build, every thing was fixed. Now I think its the samething with this issue.
