H+ is hspa, which is like 3G+ or 3.5G. True 4G is LTE which the new line of BB's don't have.

AT&T is calling their network H+ network 4G, which it is not. Its funny considering that they are rolling out LTE networks and soon, real 4G phones. Can you imagine being a customer buying a phone? "Here we have the old 4G phones and here we have the newer, faster 4G phone!" Most consumers heads will explode trying to figure this one out.

I think it stemmed from "HSPA+" not being too catchy for the average consumer.
Regardless Faux-G is now 4G. The standards have been re-defined supposedly so that HSPA+ now qualifies as 4G.
Don't shoot the messenger! I think it's as ridiculous as anyone...
Like Homer said, HSPA is 3G and HSPA+ was considered 3.5G or 3.75G depending who you asked.
No matter what the decimal is, the first number is still a "3" though!

they really wont do anything but let us browse at a faster speed. Once they upgrade their networks maybe our H+ speeds will go to 3 or 4mb, with that they will cover up all the 3g faux g (fake 4g confusion).

Quite simply put, H+ is now being called 4G by most carriers. So for all intensive purposes of answering the OPs question, they are one and the same, even if people don't like that.
With regards to LTE, unless you are willing to get seriously crappy battery life in exchange for slightly faster network performance, it isn't worth it. And unless you're downloading lots, most users won't notice much of a difference anyhow as you're still limited by the performance of your device.

I'll be happy enough moving from HSPA to HSPA+ whenever I up my device.
And Telus & Bell are not planning LTE for smartphones anytime soon so far as I know…
Correct, Krypto?

Correct, Krypto? | Actually, both Bell and Telus are testing LTE. Bell is ahead of Telus from my understanding, that or Telus is just keeping their testing and deployment info quiet. But I do know that both carriers are testing.
But I'm not sure I'll be running to an LTE device right off. As it is, my battery already sucks (I use my 9860 far too much).

For some strange reason - I really miss that 'ol 3G notifier. Wish I knew why
Anyway - I seem to find it a bit difficult talking about things that that don't really exist. I am still going through the "shock and awe" part of AT&T even having an H+ notifier up in the first place. Especially since witih them a signal is a rare, but cherished moment. LOL!
Peace...

It's merely a symbol. It can say "12G" up there and it won't mean a thing. You get what you get. I know my Internet speed is faster than with 3G but it may be entirely different for someone else in a different location.
