Welcome to CB!

You running QL or 6 Tools? They both have a Tilt Lock feature. Other apps may as well.

Ok, let me rephrase. What apps do you have installed and what theme are you using? There is no RIM setting to turn off Tilt. They all are done via 3rd party apps like QuickLaunch and 6 Tools.

yea it will only go into landscape if the slide is closed. there are no native ways to lock in landscape/portrait views. if you are surely having this issue when the slider is closed, i would reinstall the OS. if you still have the issue, the accelerometer could be bad and you should replace the device under warranty.

My torch this morning has the same problems. Has this happened to anyone else? Landscape just doesn't work anymore.

i had a similar problem.

my issue ended up being hardware related. with the slider closed, the phone just didn't recognize that it was, and wouldn't turn.

if i put some pressure just below the trackpad, it would start working again. this happened everytime i would open the slider.

i ended up exchanging it.

This is a hardware problem and is related to the magnetic switch which should kick in when the keyboard slider is closed. It is the same magnet which switches the thing into hibernate when inserted into a holster.
If you hold the back of a holster against the back of the Blackberry it will switch off, remove it and it switches back on again and should then go into landscape mode afterwards.
This probably easier and safer that putting pressure on the bottom half of the screen which has the same effect.
