This is what I remember about my ATT policy on my Torch.
Basically, anything that renders the phone unusable to you is covered. If you lose the phone, ok, it's lost. If the phone is damaged, I believe you are expected to return it once a (refurbished) unit has been provided to you.
Under newer ATT guidelines for deductibles on smartphones, phones purchased after a certain month last year (and our Torches definitely fall under that category) pay higher deductibles for replacement. We would pay either $125 or $150 for a replacement unit (I'm sure it's ONE of those two numbers, can't remember 100%) and of course we get to exchange it if something is wrong (through the fulfillment company). Those are the basics.

A quick google search would have shown:

If yours is Still under warranty, you don't have to pay a thing. You just are provided with a new Torch. That's how my situation came about. My One year mark hits the 22nd.
