I recently downloaded a video in avi format, however when I tried to play it I get a black sreen with the message 'The video portion of the media being played uses an unsupported format'. The audio works just fine.

I tried to download a video player. After saving it I couldn't open it. File is saved as a exe file. It reads "Unable to display file"

I would really appreciate some assistance.

I think you might need to download a video file converter and convert the file on your computer to one the bb will use. Someone else may give you a better answer.

avi files are a hit and miss on the Blackberry Media Player. I would recommend finding a video converter and convert your videos into an mp4 format
